How do you prevent SPAM for profile fields?

Hi,

Can someone tell me a good method to prevent users writing skype or email addresses in the profile fields? I can write my own PHP code if I know which class is responsible for updating profile info.

to stop people adding clickable links just make fields 'text' ... this is handy to stop profiles being used to spam links

Well people always try to put their email address, facebook addresses or skype. 

I edited BxDolProfilesController.php function collectSetString and included a function to check fields that may contain spammy messages. This function is responsible for updating the profile table.

I am really curious to learn how big dating sites can spend so much money on Google ads, Facebook and still make revenue considering the fact that half of these people are big time assholes.

Some members have had lots of success with splitting the join form or adding "human" type questions.
