Hi,
My current host (recommended host, but it's shared hosting) shows some Fails and Warning in the "Host Tools" page. When I asked my host about this, they said I need to upgrade to VPS. Is it typical that I need VPS for Dolphin to be optimized? Any recommendations for hosting that is not too expensive?
thanks,
Ron

Zarconia, hands down. Several shared, a couple of VPS and one other dedicated server before Steve the Exploiter said I should check out Zarconia. (Thanks, Steve!)
No regrets; Great prices and even better service. Telephone support? No. On the other hand, I've had 24/7 telephone support that didn't respond as quickly as they have. I wouldn't be surprised if one day I get an emailed answer before I even submit a ticket ;)
Check them out - you'll be glad you did!

Those guys will help you out and you will not be sorry. There whole hosting is based around dolphin. If you have any problems at all they will help you out and fast.. Even with there shared hosting to start out you will not go wrong.
As for dolphin needing to be dedicated hosting would be a yes if you have any kind of membership. it takes a good amount of space and bandwidth to run a dolphin site. Not at first but if you add a bunch of modules or get a few members it would slow down on a shared hosting plan.

I'll add my voice to those recommending Zarconia. I have been around a while and tried several hosts. None will give you better service or pricing than zarconia. |
I agree!
Zarconia is dedicated to dolphin sites, so their servers are optimized and configured for dolphin.
No guess work!

Wow Guys! Thank you so much for the nice words and recommendations!!
@rjf - No, its not required to have VPS for Dolphin to be optimized.

I am thinking of offering managed/unmanaged dedicated servers set up to use Nginx in place of Apache for those interested in such configurations but don't have the knowledge of Nginx. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Thank you all for your advice! |
I'm going to name my first child after Zarconia. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |

That name is under copyright and cannot be used without permission.. It is catchy though isn't it :)
