Help with member reregister multiple times

Some of my members register and then comeback a day or so later and their account is gone and they have to register again. I use deanos Facebook connect and thought this issue might be in it but here is the reply Deano gave me;

"Facebook connect has no role in removal of accounts. So this issue would be a dolphin issue completely unrelated to facebook connect.

My guess would be something related to the moderation/account expiration settings in dolphin.

I would start a new topic in the standard Dolphin 7 forum. This is not a facebook connect issue. Facebook connect does not even have any functions in it that could delete an account. So it's not possible."

Anyone got an idea what the heck is going on and how to fix it?

Thanks ahead for the help

1) Post your current moderation settings here. Get them at yoursite.com/administration/settings.php?cat=6

2) Post your database pruning settings. Get those at yoursite.com/administration/settings.php?cat=11

3) Post your current membership level settings here. Get them at yoursite.com/administration/memb_levels.php

Also verifiy the account was actually removed/gone. Facebook connect will create a new account if the account was edited by the member and the facebook ID stored in the profile was removed and the email address was changed. Facebook connect can only match with existing accounts if the facebook ID is present in the account or the email address matches the one used in facebook if that option is turned on. If a match cannot be found then then a new account is created. So this has to be verified.

If you can still edit your last post, you should delete it. It was not even close to what i requested.

Not what i was looking for. Settings in admin of your dolphin site. Lets try this a different way instead of the links which you aparently misinturped.

ALL OF THESE ARE FROM THE DOLPHIN ADMIN PANAL. Not cpanal or in any files. If you had replaced yoursite.com with your actual site domain, the link would lead to a page in the dolphin admin panal. However, you seem to have not understood what i was requesting.

So lets try it this way.

Admin->Settings->Moderation Settings

Need the state of the check boxes for these 3 items.

Automatic profile activation after joining:
Do not change profile status after editing profile information:
Automatic profile confirmation without Confirmation Email:

Now to admin->Settings->Database Pruning

Need all the settings from that page.

Then to Admin->Settings->Membership Levels

Need the 4 settings from the settings section on that page.

Then of course, verify the last part of my origional post which i will repeat below as this one is very important to verify.

Everything looks fine.

So i have no explanation as to why your loosing accounts. Maybe someone else has an explination. I have never seen this kind of a problem. Only when expire settings are to low. Yours are fine.

Pm me the url to your site. I am going to create an account with facebook connect. Then i will reconnect to that account each day to see if it's still there.

How long does it take before an account gets deleted?

A list of all installed modules that are not from boonex could also be helpful. Need to determine if any of those deal with profiles. Only other explanation i have would be another module that deals with moderating or checking profiles that also has the ability to delete profiles. Highly unlikely tho. Or perhaps the purging of expired accounts is malfunctioning, but again, highly unlikely.

I have notice the standard dolphin join form was removed from join.php.

I was going to setup a second account using the standard dolphin join form, but i can't. Without this i really cannot compare standard signups from facebook connect signups.

For now i suggest you go into my facebook settings and uncheck the box for prompt for password.

You don't really need to do this as you do not have a normal logon form on your front page either. It's as if you're trying to force everyone to use facebook connect to logon with.

Those prompt features in my mod have known issues and i want to rule out any possibility that is causing it.The know issues are unrelated with this and normally do not occur unless the prompt for logon id is also enabled, however i still need to rule out the possibility.

Your attachment is in docx format. Only very modern versions of microsoft office can open those which i do not have. So i cannot view it.

When posting screen shots on the internet you should stick with the common image formats. PNG,JPG and GIF only.

Yes deano as we are a facebook games bot and clans site we only allow Facebook users to join so that is why I bought the mod.

I will go uncheck the prompt for password and then reupload the docx as image

Just noticed something....

When I go to the profile of one of the members who is having this issue I see this:

Registration Date:
20.02.2012 16:48
Last Login Date:
20.02.2012 16:48
Last profile edition date:
undefined

Yet those not having an issue I see a last profile edition date

 The settings are fine.

As for the profile edition date undefined. That is normal when a profile has not been edited. As for why they are not editing their profile is beyond me. By default profile fields that are required will be missing that don't exists on the import from facebook so they should have been nagged by my mod to complete their profile. They must be ignoring that.

I will create a second test account and not edit my profile.

That is the only thing I can see different but we will watch your accounts over next few days and see if either go away

Quote · 21 Feb 2012

Ok. I have two accounts. Could you check the dates on both of those. I cannot see the last edit date from my account settings.

Now we wait to see if either of those disappear.

This still appears to be a problem with dolphin. Something is removing the accounts, but i do not know what.

Also, check your email address you get site emails to. Specifically the periodic reports from dolphin which should show you if any accounts were purged by nightly cron runs.

Registration Date:
20.02.2012 19:40
Last Login Date:
20.02.2012 19:40
Last profile edition date:
undefined

Here is first account

Registration Date:
20.02.2012 18:50
Last Login Date:
20.02.2012 19:38
Last profile edition date:
20.02.2012 18:51

I dont ever get the purged emails but I am getting emails about new user joined

You have never received a periodic report?

Check your email settings.

Admin->Settings->Basic Settings.

There are two email address boxes there. If each is a different address then you need to check both addresses.

There is also a email address for bug reports in the config file on the server inc/header.inc.php

Ya all three email addresses are the same and I get emails from site every time someone joins at that same email address

 No. i have already verified that promotional memberships are not enabled. So thats not it.

Ya, I seen that when I originally posted for deano as that is how my former webmaster set that but I figured it didnt matter anyhow because the box above it says enable and it was not checked so it couldnt be that.

But, going to go look at the code in join.php also. I remember when former web admin installed Deanos Facebook Connect everything worked great but when the new member filled everything out to join they could click on the join button all they wanted and nothing happened. I told him and he said he would fix it. He did but that was also when the problem started I think. He was fired the next day due to a different issue.

So far all new users still there as of this morning. Odd as only thing we really changed yesterday I believe was the prompt for password box.

Will give this another day without touching anything

As of this morning...

Lost two members last night....

They messaged me on facebook that they had to reregister. I told them to register again. After they did I went into admin and looked at their profiles. All I could really see was one used a zipcode like 6&*57. Being I have the Dolphin Zip Code mod installed I removed it thinking maybe this might be causing the issue.

Will give it another day and see if I loose anyone else

Quote · 22 Feb 2012

That rules out the theory that the last edit date had something to do with it. Both of my accounts are still there. And the prompt for password on the facebook connect mod also did not make a difference. I did not expect that would anyway.

So i am still at a loss as to why the accounts are disappearing.

I agree Deano. Just odd. I removed that zip code mod as members were adding fake zips. I also noticed while in there that my former webmaster had fields not even in join that were all over edit, profile and everything. I have cleaned all that up. I am at a loss here because by all rights everything we have tried really shouldnt have caused a deletion of members account but gotta find the solution to this issue.

Quote · 22 Feb 2012

Well it appears something we did fixed it as we have not lost members in days not....Hmmmmm
