Has anyone ever had their IP or website blackliste

I am on the phone in a conference call, and we are discussing mass mailings. The question on the table is about how likely it would be for our website to be blacklisted by a major ip because of sending mass mails through the admin as opposed to using a company such as awebber or constant contact.

Has anyone had any issues with sending mass emails from a dedicated server from site? What are the benefits of using an outside company?

yes.... I had a module (from the market and from a reputable maker) that caused problems with several anti-virus programs. It lead to my site being singled out by their software so it showed a warning if anyone tried to access my site on a pc that was running the anti-virus software...

When we figured out what it was we had to prove it was not a virus and then request to be whitelisted. We then removed the module.... It was a total nightmare.
