HELP!!! I accidentally banned my own IP

I was trying to log into a member's account but she sent me the wrong pw.  I tried it a few times with some variations and now have a red Your IP is Banned message.

I did a quick read through the forums and tried what was suggested (disabling DNS block lists, clearing caches from admin) but nothing worked.

HELP!!!!

Go in to phpmyadmin and search for your IP then delete it.

sorry to be a ro0k, but I'm not sure where to go.  I'm in phpmyadmin but don't see anywhere that would have a list of IPs.  I really don't want to screw anything up further.

Go in to phpmyadmin and search for your IP then delete it.

IP addresses are not stored in the typical dotted notation in the database, they are stored in long format, so searching for it would not turn up anything.

However i was not aware that dolphin even had a built in system to block by failed mutipal login attempts. So i suspect you may have a mod thats doing that.

I am going to be working on your site in a few hours anyway for the work you requested. I can take a look then. In the mean time, you could simply reboot your cable or dsl router. That should assign you a different IP address when it comes back up.

 Will do and thanks.

Btw, just checked with my hosting provider and my banned IP is not showing up in in either the firewall or brute force.  Ponderous.

just as an fyi. (I have banned my ip quite a few times). In my case - when my ip address was banned - was because I was using medicines which are blacklisted. I did not know there was a list of medications that are blacklisted because they are commonly used with spammers. Each time I had to call my host to unban me, they always say my ip is not listed. Then I have to tell them that it is banned from somewhere else, and then they manage to find it. I do not know where/what it is called - my host does when I mention it. Even when whitelisting my ip address, it would still get banned in that other security measure. Again, just an fyi in case things happen again or you just want to be sure that your ip is not really banned.

FOLLOW UP QUESTION: as 2 of my members have already banned their own IPs while trying to log in with passwords they forgot, where in boonex admin can I set the number of attempts?

also, any way to code an "attempt meter" and warning?

something like: you have used X of Y attempts to log in.  If you do not use the correct password in the next Z attempts your IP may become blocked.

thx

Sorry. Thats not a feature of dolphin. So dolphin is not doing it.

My guess is it's one of the mods you have installed. And if i had to guess as to which one, i would say the Access Management mod from AntonLV that you have installed.

If it is the Access Management mod, then you can set a time for how long the IPs will stay banned.  You can also increase the number of tries before the IP is banned.  This feature helps to keep someone from trying to hack into a member's account.

You are both correct and thanks.

Is there any way to code a countdown for the number of remaining attempts in the "Your username or password was incorrect. Please try again."  popup?

The best one to ask about changes would be the developer.  You could add to the login form the number of attempts a user has; however, it would also inform a hacker as well that there is a limit to trying to get into an account.
