Groups - What's the point?

What's the point in the groups module? Honestly, what can you actually do with them other than comment on the main page or create forum topics/become a fan?

You can add photos, you can add videos etc - But you can't comment on them or rate them.

There should be more functionality with these I feel, they are the best equivalent Boonex has to Facebook pages but they won't get used as there's little you can do in them. (I'm unsure if any changes were made in 7.0.4)

What do you guys think?

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Suggest you do a little 'Market Research' for additional group functionality.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

Well I think photos and videos should allow comments, ratings, favourites etc.

When you join a group, you should automatically be subscribed to it (this should be the case for the rest of the site as well) so that when there is new content, members actually know about it.

I think the groups should also have a wall so the group owners can update it's members - Broadcast should be for private message to members. Then wall comments should be shareable. The whole module (as is large amounts of other areas of the Boonex software) is lacking a major integral factor - Social networking! There are just no options to encourage interactivity and growth. This should be fundamental on any social media website.

So I ask again, your thoughts please?

Any thoughts on this one or will this be another one for the "we'll ignore and hopefully it will go away" pile?

I think groups are very limited on Dolphin - really you are right - they don't do much at all.  A bigger problem, in my opinion, is that you have to have a really huge member base for them to have any activity at all.  I have had no luck using this feature.

Now if only someone from Boonex or some other authoritative source took notice and fedback their thoughts. Heh
