Groups Module Home Formatting

I have duplicated the groups module to play around with a new module that I am trying to put together. The only thing that I have ran into that has me on a slight pause is the formatting of the list of Groups on the Group Home page. I was wondering if anyone knew how to convert the existing layout of the list of Groups from the current layout to one that resembles the browse.php page layout. I would like for the groups to be listed going left to right  and then falling to next line instead of a single column listing all of the Groups going down.

I spent all night trying to get this figured out and I have had no luck so far. I can do it if I am not creating a module, but I need to be able to do it in a module. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Each module has its own template; if it is added.  So if you can change this in the groups module, why wouldn't you be able to do it in the same way with your duplicate?

added to the correct css. I've done it for my site certain modules.

I do have another question, but going to try and see if I can get it to work first on my own.
