Greeting notification also in spy

Is it possible to include a greeting notification in the Spy module so it shows up in the top member menu of a member?
We don't use the mailbox in the top member menu, so otherwise people only see it when looking in their mailbox.

Now you get this as email and inbox message:
... sent you a greeting! ... may be interested in you or maybe just wants to say Hello! 

By default this is not possible. It will take some customisation to get this to work

The average site user would not be interested in who greets who unless it was friend etc although this could be a good way of showing visitors that the site is active ...

We run a dating site and then it's most ideal to show them in the notifications. People see then easily when someone likes them and want to grab their attention. FB pokes also gives notifications instead of message in your inbox.
