Just upgraded from 7.2 to 7.3. I am in my Admin > Modules > Orca Forum > Manage Forum and I am clicking on the compile lang ling at the top left of the forum list. Keep getting this error;
[L[Language files compilation have been failed]]
Any remedy or ideas? I have done all the usual things with cache, etc.
Thanks,
Bill

Try uninstalling and re-installing forums. You possess an intuitive intelligence so powerful it can help you heal, and relieve stress. |
also from that point, see if you can refresh your browser and the brackets will go away. When a GIG is not enough --> Terabyte Dolphin Technical Support - Server Management and Support |
Ugh, well, uninstalling then reinstalling worked, but I lost ALL of my forum categories and posts...
Starting over on all of that now I guess :-(

Do you not have a database back up of your website? You can replace the forums sql files and restore data. You possess an intuitive intelligence so powerful it can help you heal, and relieve stress. |

Meh, I have a backup, but now seriously considering re-working the whole forum section anyway, it was crappy the way I had it set up before really. This may have been a blessing in disguise :-)

I have had an issue with the Forums compiling.
I can load any template, and only when I go to /forum/ do I get an error :
Warning: DOMDocument::load() [domdocument.load]: I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/home/amorenet/public_html/modules/boonex/forum/layout/skin002_en/xsl/recent_topics_main.xsl" in /home/server/public_html/modules/boonex/forum/classes/en/BxXslTransform.php on line 84
Warning: XSLTProcessor::importStylesheet() [xsltprocessor.importstylesheet]: compilation error in /home/server/public_html/modules/boonex/forum/classes/en/BxXslTransform.php on line 87
Warning: XSLTProcessor::importStylesheet() [xsltprocessor.importstylesheet]: xsltParseStylesheetProcess : empty stylesheet in /home/server/public_html/modules/boonex/forum/classes/en/BxXslTransform.php on line 87
Warning: XSLTProcessor::transformToXml() [xsltprocessor.transformtoxml]: No stylesheet associated to this object in /home/server/public_html/modules/boonex/forum/classes/en/BxXslTransform.php on line 88
So when I go to forum Index, all works well, and all other parts of the forum. If I go to FORUMS... MANAGE FORUMS.... and select "compile language", I get a popup message saying the "Language Files Compilation Have Failed. Please Check Folders Permissions."
I have checked using HOST TOOLS under admin, and all is correct. Any suggestions?

FTP into your server and check your permissions on the /forums/ folder. They are probably set to 755. Change them to 777, try your compile again, and if successful, change the permissions back and see if it's working. I eventually did this and it finally worked, even though my admin was showing the folder as writable.

I have 2 domains which I am doing a compare with FTP on all directory possessions between both.
The domains and files are exactly the same... and the permissions are also.
One domain is 7.0.2 using the UNI template
One domain is 7.0.3 using the UNI template
The 7.0.3 will not compile in the forums at all with the same permissions message as described above.
the 7.0.2 will compile just fine.

Well, the only other thing I did before I tried the permissions trick was to uninstall/re-install the forum module, BUT, before you do that, be advised that doing so on my install deleted all of my forum categories, subs, and posts... So proceed with caution, and make sure you do a full backup before you take this action :-)
