Forum is locked!

All the features seem to be unlocked apart from the forums. How do I unlock them?

All advice greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by "locked"?

You can install the forums module from Administration -> Modules -> Add & Manage.

Thanks for your response. For members other than me, they see a 'flash' next to topic titles and everything in the forum is surrounded by square brackets with an 'L', such as:

[L[RECENT TOPICS]]

[L[NEW TOPIC]]

[L[RSS FEED]]

Access is denied to everything!

You need to compile the forum's language files.  You can do this from the forum management page: Administration -> Modules -> Orca Forum.

For the access denied messages, make sure the users' membership level includes access to the forums.

Thank you again for your reply, Nathan. I cannot see Orca Forum. When I go into Forum Mangement, I just see the folders and no controls...

On the forum management page, in the block titled "Manage Forum", there's a few links to the right, at the top of the block.  Click the one that says to compile the English language file ("en").  Refresh the page afterwards for the changes to take effect.

A bit of history: the forum was developed as a stand-alone product and then integrated into Dolphin; that is why the language for the forum is managed separately from the rest of Dolphin.  The same is true of the TinyMCE editor.  However, it was recently announced that the TinyMCE editor for the forum in 7.1.2 will be managed by the TinyMCE configuration as the rest of Dolphin.  This will mean when you add plugins or buttons to the TinyMCE configuration they will automatically be included in the forum editor as well.
