You may need to increase your PHP configuration's memory_limit to a higher amount. If you're on a shared hosting account, you may need to ask your host to do this for you.

It may only happen on certain pages, depending on the content. This error is due to a low setting for memory_limit in your PHP configuration.

I talk to my hosting to see if they can change the limit to 512 or 1024

becuase when I got to  http://www.mysite.com/administration/host_tools.php

then >> Host Params

say

Memory           limit     64M                  Recommended 128M

and they also say this

_________________________________________________________

Hello,

PHP processes on Hostgator's shared servers are limited to 64 MB of memory per process. This is done to ensure that a PHP script on one person's account cannot deprive other users of the shared server of needed system resources. It would appear that your process has encountered this limitation. Other similar PHP settings are discussed at the following page:
http://support.hostgator.com/articles/cpanel/php-settings-that-cannot-be-changed

We would suggest contacting the script's author for support. PHP processes that legitimately need 64 MB of memory are quite rare, it is very possible that the script can be tuned to use much less memory.

If the script's author cannot help you, or is unwilling to help you, you may want to look into a Dedicated Server, or a VPS with hostgator. Since you are isolated from other customers, you can set your own limits for PHP processes without impacting others.

Please feel free to write to Hostgator if there is anything else that we can do to assist you.

As I thought. 64M is far too little for Dolphin. I recommend you either switch to a VPS or dedicated server, or move to a host which is fully compatible with Dolphin.

Agreed. Dolphin requires at least 128M. I don't recommend anything less then 256M.

So if they are restricting you to only 64, then you have no choice but to dump them, or up to their VPS.

Dolphin requires a lot more resources than Invision Power Baord and vBulletin. You can remove the forums, but expect this issue to pop up again somewhere else in the future.

i Run a IPB on hostgator and i got the same reply as the new version of IPB requires at least 128, Hostgator wont allow you more memory, in fact its been my experience of hostgator that they dont like you running Dolphin on the shared servers at all.

If you need more than this you will have to up to a dedicated server, Luckily the IPB only uses anywhere near that amount when you are doing labour intensive stuff like importing templates so its fine, Dolphin though probably uses the full whack on lots of different processes, so just turning the forums off might help for a while but not for long..

Hostgator shared hosting will only cause you trouble for your Dolphin, it did me and that was the old version which was much less intensive than the new version.

That's suck

I don't know wat to do I'm totally stock with this now

and I don't want to switch for VPS or dedicate server now

when my site get more traffic and make more money why not but now I don't need VPS

I talk to my hosting people so I can get the forum working agin on my site and they say this

Hello,

Ok i've figured out what the problem is here, it is not the php memory limit that the script is hitting. You are actually hitting the Apache memory limit on the server. Is there a certain plugin that you installed prior to this going offline? When I take the apache memory limits out of the equation, it loads however very slowly which shows me that something is not configured properly. If we can pin point a plugin, we can more than likely get this working on the server.

I'm sure PHP's low memory_limit setting has something to do with it.

I will not matter. If your host is going to enforce this limited restriction on memory available to php scripts then dolphin will not run reliably anyway.

And now based on your last post, it appears they have limits on apache as well.

It is quite obvious what you need to do here.

Then there is this one. What is it we are supposed to tell you here? They are asking you if you installed any pluins prior to this happening. We don't know what you installed.

In any case this obviously is still the the same issue. And that issue is hostgators restrictions on memory use.

Hi Deano!

they set the memory from 64M to 128M

I got this last reply from the hostgator administrator

_______________________________________________

It does not, It set at 128MB now.. You can check in your config.. Its hitting the Apache Memory limit of 90MB. I assure you I would not make this up and am glad to help you. I"ve been a linux server administrator for 10 years. This is some plugin of dolphin that is making the memory for httpd go over.

It does sound like you have some dodgy or damaged scripting.

Is this since you upgraded to 7.03? Because I was having problems with my forums also after upgrade. I ended up uninstalling Orca, replacing the forums folder and its entire contents in modules and then re-installing the Orca Module.

You could try this if you don't have much in the way of forum discussions to lose, or backup your database table for your forum posts first.

I had a problem once before also with Hostgator and I just repaired my tables in PHPMyAdmin.

But all in all I run a site with over 2000 members on a shared hosting account with Hostgator without problem... Yet.... Touch Wood.

If you get out of memory error, you can never fix it. From my experience I understand that is the problem of this stupid dolphin software!
