happy to give feedback

Splash screen is quite nice,

I like the date picker... is that custom or template?

couple of points to improve straight away

I registered, after registration info was entered, it just re-directs to the splash again.

no message to say check email for confirmation.

checked email, clicked confirm link, took me to a page that said congrats etc.. confirmed, but was still logged out.

No indication in login that my login name would be my first name entered so wasnt clear what my login was!

layout is quite clean, easy to find way around.

Doesnt seem to be anything specific to what sort of community it is though?

Is is just a general community site or aimed at something local / niche?

Personally, I would need to know what the sites 'focus' was if I was to join other than to give feedback.

Yup, you should fix this because as a user I will be confused if I did register successfully, or not.

The layout/template is clean and simple but I just don't like the colors, personally.  Do people in the Europe really like orange?  I see most of the stuff from there in orange, ING bank is an example.

Its the official color of the Netherlands so anyone from there, or Syracuse, can't get enough of it.

I didn't join but took a look around at what I could.  I know you are far from launching anything but here are some design critiques:

  • When someone visits your website, you have maybe 2 seconds to capture their attention and convey clearly what you do.  I'm not sure what your plans are, but when you have them you need to clearly articulate it front and center.
  • The join form should be placed higher on the splash page with the Join button clearly above the fold.
  • Consider a Facebook connect (or other applicable social media) option too.  More and more users are using these to join other sites and the ability to see which of their existing connections already are members goes a long way in the trust factor.  If yours is going to be a business centric site, consider LinkedIn.
  • I'd also go wider with the central part of the landing page.  that way you can utilize more prime page real estate.  the repetition of the side bar graphics doesn't really add anything.
  • daihlo mentioned the Date Picker and, while yours looks nice, it has the same standard boonex functionality.  Several of my users never changed the year and thus entered incorrect birthdays.  deano has a cheap mod that works much better.

Hope that helps a little

yes, I searched before asking....

Ok, here's my five cents. Have mood for critics.

—————————————————

First of all it's not clear what is it all about and what it's for.

What the reason to represent the text as a picture and not as plain text? Torn edges makes me think about 8-bit videogames, not about new age technologies.

Misaligned fields, labels, information icons and Join button.

Could you guess what email did I type there? :)

When I see squeezed banners with overlaid non-readable texts made in MS Paint on Win95 with 640x480 VGA monitor, I think about the company budget which didn't made its way to designer.

Really, why join if I already have accounts on FB, LJ, WP, BS etc. for years and can do even more than Groups, Blogs and Events? Attention from who?

Too many different visually-non-compatible fonts doesn't make it look better.

And when it's active, it goes to another font...

...and finally I feel pain in my eyes after a couple seconds...

Want to switch interface language? Try to find grayed out text somewhere down there and click it... So not obvious.

How can I go to another parts of the website from internal pages without going to /index page?

What are you waiting for...  This is a question... Why don't you want to put a question sign there... Why there are two exclamation signs... not three... telling me what I have to do...

Conclusion: I guess site is not ready for feedbacks as I only can see three modules and template. Nothing to check really. That's it.

Thanx to all who took the time to and give me feedback.

for the ones who signed up: did you check the outline filter and photo and video popup on the outline. plus the profile i follow feature

#you are right about the images, text... it needs work.
# : after registration info was entered, it just re-directs to the splash again.

no message to say check email for confirmation. i guess it's not clear enough then.(maybe i should add line of text saying
that you will be re-directed to the splash page.)

#need to know if i can add the date picker from deano on my splashpage. if so, i would use it for sure!

#: thanx
