Okay, the last few times I've upgraded it took me at least an hour and a half (Assuming everything goes well...).
I would then read about others on unity who were able to completely upgrade in 30 minutes or less.
That would leave me wondering what I'm doing wrong.
(I use Filezilla FTP to upload the files from each folder in the upgrade patch.)
Could somebody please explain the steps they are using to do a complete upgrade in 30 minutes or less.

I unzip the patch into the root directory of my site after testing and then follow the update instructions as outlined in the wiki. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
But you can't just replace folders in your root with folders in the upgrade patch, because the upgrade patch contains only the files that have been changed.
So you need to go into each folder in the upgrade patch and move the files to your live site....
Or am I doing this all wrong?

I use Cpanel, upload zip into root, then extract into root.. Always did it this way and works fine. you don't need to go into each folder. |

Because the patch only includes the changed files, only those files are overwritten. I'm sorry to tell you, but you've been doing this the wrong way.

This is absolutely hilarious.
So if I upload the entire patch to my root, it will only replace the files in the patch.
I thought it would replace whole folders with the folders containing only the changed files.

Fortunately, that's not how operating systems like to work. Welcome to the 30 Minutes Below club.

I'm so glad I asked.
