you dont need an ssl server.

all you need is get a dedicated IP ( most charge $1 to $2 a month) from your host and then get an SSL certificate ($10 a year) and install this on your site and thas all needed, this is not a hard or complicated process.

but the domain with your dolph site will have an IP, if its dedigated then you just need to order an SSL cert for that domain and install if by following the instal instructions that will come with it.

That is only if your using Dolphin as an app, meaning viewing your site through Facebook.

For connect, just need the keys.

Agreed. You do not need to setup the canvas URLs or app namespace.

I provided a video that shows how to setup a facebook app for use with either my facebook connect or the boonex one. It's really easy.

Sound is a bit low, so you may have trouble hearing it. So crank it up. I will do a replacement when i have time.

Most likely a missmatch in url.

If your site is not using the www prefix, then you can't use it in the facebook settings either. Or your missing a / on the end.

Did you create a new one, or modify an exiting facebook app?

Sorry, but when i follow those procedures it works perfectly.

Ok in Boonex facebook module setttings there is this

For "Site URL" and "Canvas URL" you should use this URL:
http://www.mydomain.com/modules/?r=facebook_connect/login_form

Is it possible that boonex Facebook connect is different then yours?

i see your facebook login. Think i would like to buy it :) More options

In 7.1 this is what we have now in the FB connect module. You are using 7.0.9 or below, because that link you provide is from 7.0.9<

FACEBOOK CONNECT INFORMATION

To get your "API Key" and "App Secret" strings, go to the following URL:
Make application

After creating Facebook App you need to edit it and click on "Website with Facebook Login" section, then enter the following url in "Site URL" field:
http://yoursite.com/

After completing these steps, insert your "API Key" and "App Secret" strings below:

But really using 7.1

If so, your module should show as I posted.

If you upgraded from 7.0.9 to 7.1 on your module install page; are all your modules showing version 1.1.0?

Damn it found the bug

in my splashscreen template there is:

     <option value="modules/?r=facebook_connect/login_form"><bx_text:_bx_facebook /></option>
     </select>

what is the new value?

Can someone write me this please?

Thank you

Thats ok. That link has not changed.

Check for server problems. Facebook connect requires curl to properly operate. Try the test script i posted in this topic.

/m/facebook_connect/login_form

Thats for the permalink version. If setting a static link it's best not to use the permalink just in case it gets shut off. Thats why i don't use it for any of my buttons. For buttons and links i always use the non-permalink version of it.

Did you run the test script i posted above to test your server?

https://www.deanbassett.com

Yes result:

Running fopen test
fopen test succeeded.

Running curl test
SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificatecurl test failed.

Running gethostbyname test
gethostbyname test succeeded. IP of graph.facebook.com is 173.252.101.26

Quote · 22 Feb 2013

That cert error may be part of the problem. Facebook connect talks to facebook via the https protocol using curl. And it is not operating properly because of the certificate.

Thats a hosting issue.

How to fix this?

its on a windows Root server. Ive installed all by myself.

Quote · 23 Feb 2013

But i saw in the Boonex Facebook Connect App theres the CA from facebook inside.
I read that curl dont accept CAs as default.
but theres one inside.

Thanks in advance

Hi, trying out your script, I'm getting this test result..

Running fopen test

fopen test failed.

Running curl test
curl test suceeded.

Running gethostbyname test
gethostbyname test succeeded. IP of graph.facebook.com is 31.15.99.66

What does it imply with fopen test failed?

Thanks

Quote · 1 Apr 2014

That script is out of date. Due to a change facebook has made to the test url, that test now always fails. So for now, you ignore it. If fopen was a problem, many other areas in dolphin would not be working.

Go into the host tools section in dolphin. See if any problems show up there.
