I don't know how others rate the free event calendar included with Dolphin 7 but I myself find some features lacking. Yes, it is nice to be able to upload images, videos, rich html text for the event details with various permission switches available for editing, etc but some basic calendar functionality is just outright missing. For example, the month view just shows the number of events on a particular day, which is not very descriptive. And how about having a draggable block in the page builder to display the calendar on other pages, like the front page for example?
So my cheap workaround is this:
I create the event in the event calendar with all the images, all the aesthetically pleasing stuff I want. Grab the ink to the individual event and then create a corresponding entry in google calendar. Fortunately, google calendar allows html links, though not much else besides plain text in the event details section. But that's all I need for this workaround. I then add some basic information - date, time, address and then include the link to the event calendar detail.
Now just grab the iframe code from the google calendar settings, customize to correct width and then plop it in an html block on the front page of my page builder in Dolphin. I now have a nice google calendar with each entry pointing to the corresponding event in my event calendar.
