Andrew..
Why aren't your people working on an emergency fix for 7.03...This release is total crap..Do you even care about your reputation? because belive me it's not good. The links in the site either don't work or are all screwed up. Thats just the start.. I host your sites and I spend most of my day answering questions about why your software doesn't work..my clients are loosing members left and right because of your software. PLEASE PLEASE Andrew at least put an emergency fix out so that the all your basic functions work, and do it fast.

Finally someone sees a problem similar to mine......
|
Yes Cheari Every one of the dolphin sites I host that upgraded to 7.03 have that problem. Unfortunitly they coming running to me for answers and I dont have any. But besides that Dolphin and it's writters should be hanging their heads in shame. This has been going on for years fix one thing mess up 20 more..then release as a wonderful distribution. And Andrew Boon just sits back and lets it happen. He could be making a fortune with this software if hed only get his company on track. I would fire all my coders and get people who could do it right the first time. :) |
jdoyle55,
Your concerns are very vague. Could you please explain these issues you are referring to.
I updated two sites in the last week. There were a few issues to be resolved on each site after the upgrade, but nothing to make me lose sleep over. All of these issues were quickly resolved with the help of the good people here on Unity. Now my sites are running faster and better than before.
Please refer to some specific issues and I'm sure you will get a ton of help from people here on Unity.
ps. you will probably have to address these issues in another thread, because I would be surprised if this one doesn't get deleted.

I have also done some upgrades with few if any problems.

Fair enough..where exactly do I post them?
and to be a lttle more specific..the links on the bottom menu do not go to the proper pages..they go to the main page. I have replaced the htaccess file and it didn't help. I have more but well take it one step at a time.
|
This is the same exact issue I have .....I have been pleading for a fix for the past 4 days my members are complaining also....the member menu bar top pest links all redirect to the home page |
Thats just it. So far i have seen this issue reported by only two people. Fixing something that no one else can reproduce is not exactly easy.
https://www.deanbassett.com |
Deano..Is it a database issue..I have 6 sites all with the same problem. Everything worked great untill they were updated to 7.03..it's confusing..and costing me clients..Not happy when I loose money:)
|
I wonder these two things:
- How customized was your site (file edits)
- Did you follow the update steps to the letter
Inquiring minds want to know.
BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
And by any chance do all 6 of these sites have any custom mods installed, and if so are there any custom mods that exist in all 6 of those sites? And were the updates on all 6 of those sites performed by the same person, and are all 6 of those sites hosted on the same servers.
My point being is to fix this we have to find things that are common between all 6 sites. Because obviously many have updated to 7.0.3 that don't have this problem.

no mods do have a differnet template how ever when switched to default same problems..even have the problem on a fresh install with mo mods and no members
|
Ok then, have you tried shutting off all cacheing options found in advanced settings in other and templates as well as the compression option under templates. Then manually empty the contents of cache, cache_public and tmp folders. Then check the menu again while the caching options are still off to see if they have any affect.
And what caching type were/are the caching options set on.
https://www.deanbassett.com |
will try that now..thanks will let you know if anything happens
|
nope when I click on anything in the bottom menu bar it foes to the index.page |
Deano I'm going to try your fix from another post..I have deletes the caches etc..removed all cacheing options and I am reloadint the templates/base dir see if that will fix it :) |
Please let me know if that works for u ...I had no luck.... |
Guess I gotta eat a little crow..Sorry Andrew and boonex...wasn't totally your faults. It seems that when you click on the very top options on the bottom menu bar they all go to the index page how ever all the links under them are working..Cheari try yours and see if those work?
Thanks everone who replied

Actually i did not even think to check those menu header links. However. They do not work on my 7.0.3 install either, but do on 7.0.2. So i do believe it is a bug.
I am trying to see if i can find it. I believe cheari's problem is different. Top menu vers bottom menu.
The entire menuing system was rewritten when they developed a new caching system.

I have a fresh install of D7.0.3. My menu's work correctly, Top level and the sub-menu items.

I have no issues with my menu either after the 7.03 upgrade. But I also do not have any caching options enables.. When there were enabled, I was having all kinds of random errors everywhere.
You can do this from your Admin Panel by disabling the cache (remove checkmarks) here:
Admin Panel > Advanced Settings > Other
- Enable DB cache
- Enable page blocks cache
you can read more here: http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/topic/Helpful-7-0-3-Upgrade-Info.htm
Nothing to see here |
Stuart and Zarcon. Could you verify we are looking at the same thing?
I did not think anything was wrong either until i compared this header item with d7.0.2 And i also turned all my caching off to verify.
 https://www.deanbassett.com |
I just verified this myself on zarcons site. The member menu top header links are indeed broken.
https://www.deanbassett.com |
OK, Its the member bar menu that this resides in. I have verified this too.
Example, if you click the Dashboard Icon from the member menu and then click the word "Dashboard" at the very top, it take you to the homepage.. It does this with every option you choose in the member bar.

This is a temporary solution people can try until boonex fixes it.
In inc/classes/BxDolMemberMenu.php at about line 367 look for this.
// draw reduce element by top side ; 'bx_if:reduce_element_top' => array ( 'condition' => ( $this -> sMemberMenuPosition == 'bottom' ), 'content' => array ( 'menu_id' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['ID'], 'item_link' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['menu_link'], 'extended_action' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['extended_action'], 'cover' => 'top_cover', 'item_name' => $sPartCaption,
'bx_if:part_image' => array( 'condition' => ($sReduceImg), 'content' => array( 'item_img_src' => $sReduceImg, 'cleared_item_name' => strip_tags($aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['Caption']), ), ), ), ),
// draw reduce element by top side ; 'bx_if:reduce_element_bottom' => array ( 'condition' => ( $this -> sMemberMenuPosition == 'top' || $this -> sMemberMenuPosition == 'static' ), 'content' => array ( 'menu_id' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['ID'], 'item_link' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['menu_link'], 'extended_action' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['extended_action'], 'cover' => 'bottom_cover', 'item_name' => $sPartCaption,
'bx_if:part_image' => array( 'condition' => ($sReduceImg), 'content' => array( 'item_img_src' => $sReduceImg, 'cleared_item_name' => strip_tags($aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['Caption']), ), ), ), ), );
Change to this.
// draw reduce element by top side ; 'bx_if:reduce_element_top' => array ( 'condition' => ( $this -> sMemberMenuPosition == 'bottom' ), 'content' => array ( 'menu_id' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['ID'], 'item_link' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['Script'] ? 'javascript:void(0)' : $oPermalinks->permalink($aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['Link']), 'extended_action' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['extended_action'], 'cover' => 'top_cover', 'item_name' => $sPartCaption,
'bx_if:part_image' => array( 'condition' => ($sReduceImg), 'content' => array( 'item_img_src' => $sReduceImg, 'cleared_item_name' => strip_tags($aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['Caption']), ), ), ), ),
// draw reduce element by top side ; 'bx_if:reduce_element_bottom' => array ( 'condition' => ( $this -> sMemberMenuPosition == 'top' || $this -> sMemberMenuPosition == 'static' ), 'content' => array ( 'menu_id' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['ID'], 'item_link' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['Script'] ? 'javascript:void(0)' : $oPermalinks->permalink($aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['Link']), 'extended_action' => $aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['extended_action'], 'cover' => 'bottom_cover', 'item_name' => $sPartCaption,
'bx_if:part_image' => array( 'condition' => ($sReduceImg), 'content' => array( 'item_img_src' => $sReduceImg, 'cleared_item_name' => strip_tags($aReplaced[$sPosition][$iKey]['Caption']), ), ), ), ), );
Then you need to manually empty the cache folder.

I just checked mine again, I cannot duplicate this problem. If I click any of the top menu items, including the ones described here, I go to the relevant page.
I just verified this myself on zarcons site. The member menu top header links are indeed broken.

Odd. Because every dolphin site i have checked including http://www.boonex.us is broken.
You are trying the links shown in the screen shot i posted right?

Hello Deano, Yes.

I just created a account on your site. The links don't work.
https://www.deanbassett.com |
You say the links don't work, I have clicked on every combination I can think of, both as admin and a member, They take me to the relevant page. The only way I can get back to the home page is by clicking the home page link. There are none so blind as those that will not see. |
same issue here as deano has with header link at member menu. brings me always to the homepage. Diddy is not greedy and has time. Dolphin is cool and its not just mine :-) |
Deano, I can confirm this issue on my site. I did a 7.0.2 to 7.0.3 upgrade. All top links in bottom member menu directed to my home page. Applied your fix. They work fine now!
Found another issue - possible bug. Seems members can delete other member's wall posts on that member's profile page. Can anybody confirm this? Hope this isn't a "feature."

you have to change that at your dolphin Admin => Settings => Membership Levels
Diddy is not greedy and has time. Dolphin is cool and its not just mine :-) |
@ DIddy
What is the setting for this? In membership levels there is "Wall Delete Comment" and "Wall Post Comment," but no "Wall Delete Post." There doesn't seem to anything to regulate this. One member should not be able to delete another member's post on their own Profile Page.

its Wall Delete Comment try it and you will see :-)

UPDATE: oops now I understand, sorry :-)
Its comments remove own but then you should comments edit own disable as well. At least I think thats it.
By the way, we getting a bit carried away from the main topic here!
Diddy is not greedy and has time. Dolphin is cool and its not just mine :-) |
Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried disabling Wall Delete Comment and then testing it with two different member accounts I had set up. Unfortunately I was still able to delete one member's post when logged in as the second member.
So I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the Wall module. Now it works.
It seems the Wall module was redesigned in 7.0.3. All site owners may need to do this!
However I have encountered a problem now in IE7. If you reply to someone's post it shows up OK. But if they then reply back to you it disappears. In fact, I was unable to even post the reply back in IE7. This doesn't happen in Firefox. If you have this version of IE, maybe you can confirm it. Don't know about IE8.
Guess we did get off-topic, but that sometimes happens when trying to resolve problems. And this information might be helpful to somebody else as well. Thanks for your help. (Maybe I'll continue the IE problem in another post.)
Someday, Someway. |
I see the issue now. Yes my sites do this as well. Crazy.
Thanks deano... I will definitely try your temporary fix. I can't believe I never noticed this before.
And thanks jdoyle55 for bringing this to our attention.
