Ok, I am sure this has been asked before but where to I adjust this crazy black background that goes out with the emails? Seems totally ridiculous to me...

It's ugly, it makes it look like I'm trying to hide something, it's ugly, it makes it look like the site is built for black backgrounds, it's ugly, it makes it look like I'm trying to hide some nefarious image, it's ugly ... shall I go on? http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
That's not in default Dolphin, and I don't see this in a test email from your site. Does this happen with other email clients? BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
A black background is not sent as part of the email. It has to be the way your client is reading the email. So what email client are you seeing that on? https://www.deanbassett.com |
OK ... I think I understand ... it's ugly !
I'm unsure if you can change directly in the email templates or via style sheet ... edit: I see what you mean now .... that black space! I have no idea why you have that! I have never seen that on my site mail. I thought you was meaning the emails itself are ugly. I need to read threads better before responding.

A black background is not sent as part of the email. It has to be the way your client is reading the email. So what email client are you seeing that on? Windows Live mail..... Has always been there. Just trying to figure out why. No other email I receive does this.... http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
Have you checked your email templates to see if this was caused to happen somehow ?

I suppose it may be possible that some template I installed changed it at some point but don;t remember ever configuring the email template CSS stuff.... http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
There's nothing in that output that would make the background black. Does this happen in a different email client? BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |

I just installed Windows Live mail on my windows 7 box, and emails i receive from my site look fine. I can't seem to reproduce the problem. https://www.deanbassett.com |

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
This is one hell of a mystery. There are no settings to adjust that would cause the black background in this email. All emails from my site to my email client do this, not just the new member notification. http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |

Here's a new monkey wrench... I also get these emails in my windows phone.... they also display the bottom part of the page in black....... http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |

Although not as pronounced, you can see the black line at the bottom of the body.... It's like a filler that takes up the remaining part of the page. it does not scroll.... http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
I just installed Mozilla (Thunderbird). It does not do it there. I think it's in how Microsoft handles the html content. Mozilla extends the grey that surrounds the info box to the bottom of the page, Microsoft does not, opting instead to end the grey after the last text on the page..... I know that sounds like an ifiot posted it but that's what is happening.... It's a Microsoft thing...... Not sure anything can be done except to change the html used to display the page....

ok, thanks Deano. I'll try that a little later, it's national BBQ day.... http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
If I'm not mistaken, it's to do with the size (height) of the email. Try changing the body tag and add min-height:1000px;, like in the example below:
<body bgcolor="#eee" style="margin:0; padding:0; min-height:1000px;"> Dedicated servers for as little as $32 (28 euro) - See http://denre.com for more information |
I am not a fan of sending HTML emails. HTML emails have always been a security issue. Is it necessary to send your members HTML emails? I have HTML turned off in my email client; which of course means that if someone sends an email without plain text I get a blank email; which tells me to just dump it. Geeks, making the world a better place |
