Dolphin is open source spamming software?

Just wondering because all over the site I am developing I have "Subscribe" links where user's can subscribe to site emails or profiles, but they have no way of confirming/opting in their email - they are just added. And I have no apparent way of removing the profile subscribe links or requireing that they opt in/confirm. If I rolled a site out like that, and sent emails to so called subscribers, I would get blacklisted for spamming! What gives - d 7.0.5?? Rule number one of running a legit web site - you do not accept a contactable email address that is not optin confirmed! I'm sorry but am I the only one who sees this as a glaring oversight? I can remove the subscribe box from the index page just by removing the block, and I suggest everyone does that. However, I have to hack the code to remove the profile subscribe link?

Opt-In laws vary. Not all countries have the same rules regarding spam. So programming oversite, or simply not aware. Take your pick.
