Dolphin as search engine. is it possible?

I was wondering if Dolphin can be used as search engine. Not a big search engine but a local small related to a specific area. Is it possible? We have a site module can we use it for that function. I know google yahoo etc use web crawler to scan every page for data. Right now dolphin search is not using Ajax to pull data but with 7.2 coming it will fetch data in search. So any hope to fetch data of added websites by site module?

i believe there a open source application  available..
I dont remember it but you can google open source search engine if you still cant find it.
