Is anyone using this mod with Dolphin 7.1? I sent a message to Martinboi asking about compatibility but did not hear back.

Now what would make anyone think it should work with 7.1 Believe it or not, many mods will work with 7.1 with little or no modifications. So what would make anyone think it should work with 7.1? Because other mods have. Geeks, making the world a better place |

He updated the mod on the 19th of October; so evidently whatever is keeping him away; health or personal, is fairly recent. Therefore, I thought I would ask if anyone had either gotten the mod to work directly (changing the compat tag of course) or was able to modify it to work with 7.1. Ive been trying to get in touch with martinboi for a number of months now, as have others according to another post... not getting any response on here or on his own support forums. I currently have 3 of his subscription module that cannot be used due to being locked to wrong URLs. $300 down the drain. |
Ive been trying to get in touch with martinboi for a number of months now, as have others according to another post... not getting any response on here or on his own support forums. I currently have 3 of his subscription module that cannot be used due to being locked to wrong URLs. $300 down the drain. So there is no word from the mod author. He could be sick, dealing with personal issues, dead; who knows. Are you out of $300.00? That depends. The licence states: "This is proprietary license product made by Harvest Media and can be modified only for personal usage. You can not resell or modify this product for commercial purpose under any circumstances. Limit one licence per domain." It would seems that if you are using the product on a commercial site, you can not touch the source code. I am not sure about the compatibility "tag"; if that code is not owned by Martinboi; and is part of Dolphin released to mod authors, then that could be changed and if it is code that is in the public domain used by all mod authors one should be able to change it; I don't know so others would have to answer that. How is the product "locked" to a particular domain? Do you know? It might be that you can legally changed the domain lock under the licence. The licence does not state that one can not transfer the licence to another domain so you should be able to transfer the licence of the mod to another domain. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Martinboi activates the mod when you purchase it after giving him a URL. If he's not around, then the mod can't be activated I guess! I currently have 3 mods, none are locked to any active sites. I requested changes to the URL licenses a long time ago, was told they would be changed but still not working... since then no response from Martiboi. Other than trying to hack the mod myself to find how to get rid of the license lock I dont know any other solution. I don't care if thats seen as 'legal' or not, at least I would then have a mod that I can use. |
Exactly!!! I understand that the authors of the mods do not want to get pirated, that is fair and cool. But in the event like this, where one have to depend on the author to make changes, and if that author is out of commission for whatever reason, whether its legal to do so or not, I would do it in a heart beat, and not give a 2nd thought about it. No one has $300 to just throw away.
This is something that boonex needs to figure how way to prevent as well. Like the authors, paying customers do not want to be stiffed as well. I think boonex should have a copy of all the mods, so in the event something like this occurs, they can intervene and be of help so the customers do not waste their hard earned money. Problem solved. Other than trying to hack the mod myself to find how to get rid of the license lock I dont know any other solution. I don't care if thats seen as 'legal' or not, at least I would then have a mod that I can use.
Ultra Newb reporting for duty. |
You may have made my mind up about buying this mod then and just use the built in subscriptions. I say start hacking, if you don't know how to hack the mods, then get someone to help you. If no one here wants to help, then go outside of Dolphin; others may whine about how that is not right but evidently the mod author is not available to help. Do you have any idea how the domain lock works? Does the mod call home? Geeks, making the world a better place |
Has anyone got any word of this mod works with 7.1 . What are the alternatives ? |
The module has to be set to your domain; and it is locked to that domain (read back through the posts in this topic). I am not sure but it may be the mod developer has to do this. The mod developer had not responded to the email I sent way back when. I would wait before buying this module until others that have brought it can explain how the domain thing works since it is not a cheap module. Geeks, making the world a better place |
I just got an email from Troy which said they are working on this module. I wrote back to get dates but haven't heard anything yet. |
send me the mod and all make a dumie dolphin site and figure it out from there, I'm glad I did not get this now lol I do know about how to fix some flaws in a site, and all help.
|
Has ANYBODY heard from martinboi ? Several weeks ago he said they were doing a re-write. I've sent numerous emails but not response...... I see that there was an update on the product but it looks to be the same version number and there is no compatibility update....
VERY VERY FRUSTRATING. |
It works, you have to modify config.php to show 7.1.0 then install as normal. I had problems with this module not working with the URLs (had 3 of them!) that I bought it for. No contact from Martinboi about it for a looooong time of trying to contact him. Only heard from his when I filed a complaint and boonex stepped in. Then he emailed to say it was setup for the URLs I requested a year ago. It still didn't work with them after that though... Had to hack it myself and remove the license lock to get my own module to work on my own site...
If you need a hand installing it to 7.1 feel free to let me know. It all seems to work fine after getting the install to work.
|
I have this mod installed on 7.1, but my issue seems to be with a discrepancy between the test mode (Paypal Sandbox) and Live mode. The mod works fine in test mode, but when I switch it to live mode, the members pay for their subscription, but their account doesn't actually get upgraded. They end up with Standard active membership, and I don't even offer a standard membership. Been trying to contact Martinboi for months as I've been trying to get this to work, haven't had much luck. If he is working on fixing the mod, I hope he gets it done soon. |
good luck!... he seems to be the most difficult person to get in touch with. |
I just bought this module, emailed him with my domain and it is activated but does not have the Authorize.net option as promised. I emailed him several times but he does not respond. Buyer beware! |
I just bought this module, emailed him with my domain and it is activated but does not have the Authorize.net option as promised. I emailed him several times but he does not respond. Buyer beware! I thought he fixed this but evidently he did not upgrade it on the site. This is one of the ongoing complaints about the Market and vendors. I will see if I can find the person that he fixed the module for so you can get the fix if he does not respond. Geeks, making the world a better place |

Sounds like this needs taken off the market completely....at this point Boonex needs to take responsibility for neglected buyers. |
It shows that it was Updated: 10.08.2013 so I would think the fix I am talking about would be included. The fix I am referring to was that Authorised was not available at all in the module. Can you see the fields for entering Authorised settings? Geeks, making the world a better place |
I do not see Authorize.net settings. When I click on Memberships>Settings all I see is Paypal and 2checkout. |
I do not see Authorize.net settings. When I click on Memberships>Settings all I see is Paypal and 2checkout. Why in hades would he not add that to the module after he fixed it? I worked with the person that was trying to get Authorized.net working and I hit a road block, finally martinboi came in and fixed the module. This is just baffling to me. If I can find the person that had the problem you are now seeing, he can send the module to you. This is just BS, no excuse for this. Martinboi knew the module had a defect but he did not bother to update the one in the market? Geeks, making the world a better place |
I found the person and will send you a PM. You may need to take a screenshot of your shopping history to show that you have purchased the module. At the same time, keep messaging Martinboi about the issue. He updated the module but perhaps he uploaded the wrong version by accident. Geeks, making the world a better place |
I have received many emails from Troy saying that he would fix the module "tomorrow", but tomorrow never comes. It's been over a week and the site doesn't function because this module does not work. |
I have received many emails from Troy saying that he would fix the module "tomorrow", but tomorrow never comes. It's been over a week and the site doesn't function because this module does not work. I guess you did not get a reply from the other guy. OK, time to file a formal complaint. He fixed authorised.net for the other guy, so he should already have the fix. File a complaint. It may still take a few weeks for them to take his modules down. Boonex has a serious problem here with the market and they need to start looking for a solution yesterday. Geeks, making the world a better place |
I would only buy mods from people that are active on the forums like Deano and a few others that have been around for years like rayz, etc. I believe that Boonex could stop this. To sell a mod that is incompatible with the current version, to me, should be lawfully illegal. For example, Boonex should make every developer pay a certain amount of money when they post their mod and sign a legal contract so the developer gets their money back when their term is up, making them update their mods until dolphin gets upgraded to the next level like from 7.0 to 8.0 (not from 7.1 to 7.2) so no one will have to worry about losing thousands of dollars in incompatible mods. If I owned Boonex, I would be EXTREMELY "F-ing" STRICT about the market. In the U.S. you could subpoena them to court and sue them, but it's kind of hard to sue on Boonex because everyone uses fake information or aliases. As I am writing this, I am preparing to buy a few hundred dollars worth of mods within the next couple of days. I am researching the developers and sending them multiple messages asking questions about their mods before I buy them. Those that reply in a timely manner and answer every question with complete clarity are the mods I will purchase.
If I were a developer, I would be happy to pay an initiation fee and enter into a legal contract with Boonex in order to ensure good customer service and satisfaction with consistent mod updates. Even if it is not my money that's getting burned, I get VERY ANGRY when developers screw over other people. I do not care if the developer is on "vacation" or not. They have a job and their mod should be sanctioned from the market until a response is received. Boonex should send automatic messages that must be responded to within a certain amount of days to each developer to make sure the developer is being active and TRUSTWORTHY. This can be done because the Boonex market is relatively small compared to Joomla and Wordpress. If someone screws you over on a mod, I recommend that you spend the money on a lawyer and SUE THEM even if the mod is only a few dollars. Teach these developers a lesson that they CAN NOT DO THIS. To me it is an internet crime. There are good developers and there are bad developers. The bad developers are actually scam artists.
As you might realize, I am very angry right now about this. I have sent messages to some developers months ago and they still have not responded. I refuse to be an internet "sucker" and get my money stolen from me. This type of activity should be a thing of the past when internet security was new and there were no real internet laws. MY REAL NAME IS JOSEPH AND I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE BOONEX MARKET AND IT'S THIEVERY. Boonex can make more money from the market if they enforce new laws. I posted in the forums of XBIZ.net which is the real adult social network for actual adult film production companies and people of the adult industry. Some people mentioned Boonex. I told them that Boonex is the best solution for a community based website company. I am spreading good words to the businesses within my industry which is, of course, the adult industry. If people continue to get burned in the market, MY RECOMMENDATION TO SWITCH TO BOONEX WILL CHANGE. I am a leader in the adult industry on XBIZ and AVN and we all stick together. I want to tell everyone to use Dolphin instead of ElevatedX.com which is currently the standard of the adult industry, but I can not live with myself knowing that my industry and fellows will get burned in the Boonex market.
This is not a complaint. This is the truth about the Boonex market and how Dolphin affects the adult industry. At all of our conferences and business meetings, I want to recommend Boonex. PLEASE FIX THE BOONEX MARKET so Boonex can flourish in prosperity. These faults in the Boonex market can seriously lower the value of the Dolphin software. If Boonex where to go public in the stock market (and I think they should), the stock will be shorted because of the Boonex market. The software itself is phenomenal. Boonex is hurting themselves by allowing this to happen. I understand why Boonex moved away from open source. They were not making any money and Dolphin is a multi-million dollar software. It is a great software, but the Boonex market MUST BE REGULATED. I guarantee that a larger company like Microsoft or Google would not allow this to happen if they were in this type of business.
Please agree with me on this message and post your true thoughts. We must let Boonex know the severity of this concept. Thank you. |
FYI, the PayPal connection code needs to be revised in Martinboi's Subscriptions Management module. This is what PayPal is asking: Action Required before the 7th of October, 2013 Merchants need to update their IPN and/or PDT scripts to use HTTP 1.1, and include the “Host” and “Connection: close” HTTP header in the IPN postback script. http://pkforum.dolphinhelp.com |
I am pleased to say that martinboi sent me an email that the module is fixed and the download is updated on the boonex market link. I just downloaded it and it works fine, including Authorize.net |
As I've said before: Anyone who has a problem with martinboi or his products, please message me directly with all the details. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
Hey, Sorry I can't spend 24 hrs a day in the forums like some of the other users, as I run a full time PHP/Rails development agency. All of the information you need is listed in the module's description, compatibility section, and courtesy info. If you purchase a module and it doesn't do everything you require I offer a full refund for anyone. I respond fully to customers after purchase, and make sure the modules are up and running just fine. sup |

It is obvious you don't have the time to respond to messages; therefore, remove the activation part of the payment/membership module and sell it without it. Stop worrying that someone may be using your module without paying for it. All you do is to alienate the ones that does buy your module and thus have them telling everyone else how you won't respond to messages and to NOT buy your module. Remember this, a lot of the people on here are developers, they will be working to build other Dolphin sites; do you want those developers telling their customer to buy your module? Because at the moment a lot of them aren't. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Troy - If you cannot support the product then don't sell them. Nobody wants to hear about your full time job or how you don't have time. If you cannot support your products then don't sell them. |
Wow... |
I have no idea how Boonex can still allow this vendor to operate. As I said in previous posts, the supply of non-functional or faulty goods for money is a legal issue and I would urge everyone affected by this rogue vendor to take it up with the authorities in Troy's location. |

This is why I don't like the idea of a module's licensing being tied to a third party server, that server blows up and then your module stops working. I don't mind the ideal of a form of licensing but it needs to be some method that once applied it is always there. Even Boonex's licensing has gone down in the past unlicensing sties; which is why their method changed. I am allowed to move my license to a new domain but that means Boonex has to maintain a licensing server until the end of days. Geeks, making the world a better place |
This is very unfortunate and ridiculous at the same time. If you sell a module for $100 I expect the module to work as described in the brief list of features you have on the market place. I was hoping to get some documentation along with the module on how to install it (which is the easy part), how to configure it, and some tips and tricks to avoid pitfall. Paypal seems to work great but authorize.net is definitively broken. When someone pay with Authorize.net the account is not upgraded to the new membership level. The only way you know that someone attempted to pay through Authorize.net is the message you receive from Authorize.net By not having even a basic website with tips and how to on installing and using the module you make it even worst on yourself. Where are are force to send you emails to which we are not getting any responses. Could you please take a look at WHY the authorize.net portion is not working. Thanks Clement |

That's great. geek_girl, I'm glad you're stimulating this situation. Because of the many issues we've been having with licensing, any license checks have been removed from the latest version. Hopefully, the many happy customers I have will continue to support my products, even though there have been a few issues with support over the last few months. For anyone who wants to purchase the module but was worried about licensing or support issues, I'll give you a 50% discount. Just contact me. sup |

I started the thread but this is an old thread that was revived because a customer was having trouble reaching you. So please don't call me out for if you look back you will see that this latest call to action was by ParadigmGuy. I don't mind vendors putting in some kind of licensing system but it needs to be one that is not dependent on a licensing server being up constantly. You see how that leads to bad karma for you when the server goes down. Thank you for removing the licensing check so that your customers can get access back to the module's payment section. There must be other licensing systems that would work better and you would not have to maintain a licensing server. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Sorry geek_girl, if that sounded personal. I was genuinely thanking you for getting involved in these issues, and helping to keep the market and products more reliable. sup |
Sorry geek_girl, if that sounded personal. I was genuinely thanking you for getting involved in these issues, and helping to keep the market and products more reliable. My apologies to you. I went back and read your comment again and yes, I misread it and I do apologise. I can understand vendors wanting to protect their intellectual property. I can see from what code work I do how time consuming it is. I understand vendors don't want their modules being used without the person paying for them. Perhaps some way can be used that will protect a vendor's intellectual property without worry that a legitimate customer's module will quit working. Geeks, making the world a better place |

Unfortunately after six weeks of waiting I have yet to receive a reply which is hardly convincing that you were serious about resolving your support issues. |
