I am using Dolphin 7.1.4 and it has a licensing agreement in which I can remove the Boonex attribution by purchasing a license. I get all the Boonex modules included with my copy of Dolphin 7.1.4. Dolphin Pro, which is going to be released starting with version 7.2 is going to have a new licensing agreement in which the attribution is gone from the platform and one will purchase modules in place of a license to remove attribution.
Now, my Dolphin 7.1.4 can not be relicensed which means that the Dolphin licensing server that helps to remove my attribution has to stay in place. Of course Boonex can remove the 7.1.4 download from their server but that does not remove it from the ether and while I would have to check there may be a redistribution clause in the 7.1.4 licensing. While Boonex may stop providing any support and upgrades for Dolphin 7.1.4 there are some aspects of Dolphin 7.1.4 that won't just evaporate when Dolphin Pro is released and Boonex needs to address these to the community.

GG you are confusing people seriously. All those who are old customers won't be effected. There will be a time when boonex will announce they are changing their T&C for new users. It wont effect old members. Right now you are using Dolphin pro 7.1.4 and in Spring hope so boonex will release Dolphin pro 7.2.0. End of story :) Umar Haroon |
Dolphin 7.2/Pro is the continuation of 7.1.4, and there's no reason to believe there won't be an upgrade available. For those who bought a license, they'll continue to have access to all the modules (as said above). No changes.
For those who have not purchased a license, they'll be able to buy whatever modules they need for their site from the market for a fraction of what a full license costs now. That sounds like a better deal than the current license system. I'm sure 100% free users won't like this change, but a completely free product doesn't pay the bills to keep the code flowing at BoonEx. Paying for the modules you need will be affordable and make sure BoonEx is paid for their work.

I believe GG is referring mostly to the Licensing server. Right now all dolphin 7.1 versions up to the current 7.1.4 connect to a licensing server.
If the license is no longer going to be required for 7.2. What will happen to those that DON'T want to upgrade. Will boonex maintain the licensing server for older versions of dolphin? Or will they drop it, which essentially will force everyone to upgrade. https://www.deanbassett.com |

Now this is a thing to talk about rather the name confusion. In that case boonex need to give them instruction to remove the code which shows it is boonex property but then old version will be misused. So boonex need to give all its old users a permanent unique code which don't need to connect to the server for verification. or they have to keep the verification server on for indefinite period of time.

Dolphin 7.2/Pro is the continuation of 7.1.4,
Don't worry, everybody gets it.... everybody but one, that is.

I think the 7.1.4 and older versions will have to replace some file to work along the new Keys & Secrets system. In case they want to upgrade, so they wont have any trouble. More over these Keys & Secrets will authenticate for the modules which will be free for old user but new user have to pay for them get these Keys & Secrets

I don't recall Boonex ever screwing over existing license holders. I'm sure they'll do whatever they have to do to keep paying customers happy.

Also, Dolphin 7.0.9; which is not Dolphin 7.1.4 (and 7.1.4 is not Dolphin Pro), contains the same licensing as 7.1.4; which is a license to remove attribution. I know that there are many users of 7.0.9 that did not upgrade to 7.1.4 due to the large number of modifications to their site.
Hopefully Andrew will come in and address this question.

who told you invest that much in 7.0.9 :p you see i am not using Dolphin or Dolphin pro ..just version number less confusion. I can understand you are thinking in a legal way..even a slight change in name can change any thing in court of law. Am not going that far ;)

From Andrew Boon. Key statements highlighted
Dolphin U and Dolphin PRO (instead of Classic)
“What's in a name? that which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet.” ― William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
Earlier we announced that Dolphin 7 line would be called Dolphin Classic. We have given the idea a bit more consideration and decided to call it Dolphin PRO instead. So, there will be Dolphin PRO and Dolphin U.
Why another change? Looks like "Classic" moniker makes a lot of webmasters feel like it's something to be forgotten and depreciated, which is exact opposite of what we plan. We see a lot of potential in Dolphin PRO and even more importantly massive value in existing users and variety of Market Extensions. So, that's that - Dolphin PRO.
An important clue here is "existing users"
GG if you are paralyzed with confusion, send a PM to Andrew Boon to explain it to you. There is no need to create some sort public pandemic so you don't feel so alone with your confusion.
The Dolphin 7 product line is now called Dolphin Pro. It's quite simple: Dolphin 7.x.x Becomes Dolphin Pro 7.x.x. Boonex will do whatever they have to do, to keep existing installs of Dolphin Pro 7.x.x running as usual...they always have. I hope this helps ease your paranoia.

The way I understand it if you have a paid license you can change anything you want as long as you don't alter the headers that have the Boonex info. So every site I've built that had a paid license attached to it the first thing I did was rip out the code from the site and admin that connected to the Boonex server. What's wrong with that? BoonEx hasn't made the license server incompatible with older releases before, so I don't see why that would happen now. It wouldn't affect unlicensed sites, and licensed sites automatically have access to all BoonEx modules. So there's no reason I can see for that to happen. I do however think Andrew or somebody else from BoonEx should post something about it to lay this matter to rest. BoonEx has no plan to shutdown licensing server, old versions will pass licensing validation.
Even if we decide to shutdown it anytime - which is very unlikely, we will make several years notice!
Will boonex maintain the licensing server for older versions of dolphin?

May I know who the hell do I contact here on this useless Boonex?
I write a ticket and its goes on for months and nobody even bothers to reply. There's this guy named Igor_L who replied to the ticket a month ago and since then nobody even cared to reply to tickets.
What shit is happening here? You pay for the Prime License and then go banging your heads with no reply.

If you are having issues with Dolphin:
1st - Search the forum and see if a resolution has already been posted before.
2nd - If you did not find anything in the forum regarding your issue, start a new topic and provide the details.
3rd - Submitting a ticket in Trac (assuming thats what you did) is not the way to get support.
Having a Prime account does not mean you get priority support directly from BoonEx. This software is supported by the community (always has been) and not BoonEx unless it is a 'true' defect within the software itself.
Nothing to see here |
Its not about support, I just do not want this services any longer and need my money back. I was informed that my money will be returned if I am not happy with your service. I have written to BOonex so many times and nobody replies to it. |
