Does Dolphin generate fake traffic?

so I just built a site 3 days ago, the first day I had like 44 visits, the last 2 days traffic has increased by 100s ( please see screen shot

This is the stats of total visits vs. unique visits ( unique visits= the total IPs that visited)

But the PROBLEM is when I check the referral links I found NONE, nothing. There's no way people would know my domain name since I never ever promote this domain before. If you take a look at this screenshot, you see 1 ref link from Yahoo mail, which was me verifying a test account from Yahoo.

For your information, this is the traffic from search engines from 1 of my sites.

This is a great tool to verify a spam IP

The spammers will normally start hammering you as soon as the site hits Google. Do you have it so people can't sign up yet?

I have it so people CAN sign up now.

I can tell because if there are that many visitors, a few of them would click on the videos I uploaded there. but the views =0

Looks interesting, I noticed that when I started Google they indexed as much as they could the first few days. Perhaps what you are seeing are the search engine indexing showing up as hits. I also noticed that when you do changes to your site they know it and hit it harder. When you page views are as many as your unique visits that throws a red flag that this maybe the case. I would not be able to tell you that this is in fact what I have described. Although it does seem to be plausible.

I noticed because as soon as I installed Dolphin, the site suddenly got alot of traffic even without any content, which made me think that I'm doing good, or having a good start (in fact I doubt it).

But it seems this only happens with the .com sites, I installed Dolphin on the .xxx site and the traffic seems to be normal.

We should look into this to prevent resources leakage,  I'm spending at least a few GBs of bandwidth a month for nothing.

Dolphin is a magnet for spam bots.  Make sure you have the China blocklist enabled, which should cut down on the amount.

I forgot to enable the China blocklist on our demo site, and it was a disaster.  Now with it enabled, there's only about 33 spam accounts on there that I need to delete.

As Mister Nathan stated, we are all spam dump sites.

The only hope you have is to graduate to 7.1.4 with some more useless spam controls

Consider installing  a free account with Incapsula: http://www.incapsula.com/

I find it exceptional and a definite MUST HAVE for all Dolphin sites.

1. It blocks 99.9% of spam before it even reaches your site, saving GBs of bandwidth. Up to 90% of traffic to a Dolphin site is actually spam! It also has black and white lists which you can maintain as well.

2. You can nominate which search engine bots can access your site, eliminating a huge drain on your site resources.

3. It optimizes everything except dynamic content (available with the paid version) giving your site a performance boost.

4. It will keep stats for you for the last 30 days, showing you all the savings made daily by using Incapsula.

5. There's free support if needed.

Nathan -  that China blocklist allows legitimate visitors from China right?

??? If you checked my site you would see I have 564 members, 13,300 visits (2,700 unique) in the six weeks since starting my site. Oh, did I mention sub 2 second response times.

What's the payment quip about? My site is free.

Instead of pooh poohing something with a closed mind and attacking it without any facts, why don't you check it out AND THEN make some informed comments.
