Could someone give me a brief description of differences between the use and features of NEWS and ARTICLES in D7. They appear to be the same thing?

News: News. Articles: Articles.

But aren't they basically the same module with just a different name on it since only Staff/Admin can initiate each? It seems as though it is just splitting hairs to call one NEWS and the other ARTICLES. Unless I am missing function/features in one that are not offered in the other. |

They are both essentially the same module, but each provide a certain purpose. One is for news and other information, while the other is for articles on certain topics. I was just thinking that about all the mods in the Market that are not much more than a renaming of the group function. There must be 20 or more mods based on groups.
