Desperate! My Admin profile disappeared!

Last night when I attempted to log into my admin, I got the response that either my user or password is invalid. I logged into the home page using another user name and my admin profile had disappeared. In my db all reference of the admin profile has vanished from the profile fields table. I also changed the role of my user profile to "3" and I still can't access the admin section via the icon on the lower menu.

After hours of searching here in the forum for a fix and after trying each one out, I'm still locked out of my admin part of my site. The normal user logins work ok but the admin does not. I've run out of ideas!

Any ideas how I can fix this?

When you changed the role to 3 did you empty the cache folder? If not, then do that. Leave any .htaccess file in that folder if there is one.

you can try an old database when the admin profilr was working.

Well, I changed the role in a backup db file I got from my cpanel. Then I did empty the cache folder (including public_cache). Nothing changed - or hasn't yet. I didn't see any .htaccess file.

After taking Deano's advice, I did backup a db from yesterday within my cpanel. Then I emptied the cache. Nothing has changed yet. I tried to access the data in phpMyAdmin but for the life of me I can't figure out how to access the data - structure and sql, yes - but data no.

Still scratching my head....

Problem fixed!

The initial db backup didn't work as, for some reason, the cpanel restore didn't backup the non-gz format.

What I ended up doing was to do a cpanel backup and download of the latest db sql file. Then I copied and my 'public' profile entry and pasted it as a new entry. I then changed the ID to "1" and the role number to "3" (the one after 'status'). I also changed the email address for good measure. I then zipped it to gz and restored it via cpanel backup. It worked and I can log into admin as designed.

Thanks for all your advice!
