I have been fighting with" Video upload Failed (Video error)" for 2 weeks while evaluating Boonex Dolphin . Im trying to build a website for a nonprofit Lost Pet Rescue group and I desparetly need help. I am running Windows 7 /64. Apache 2.2.26(Win32) mod_ssl/2.2.26 , OpenSSL/1.0.1e, PHP 5.4.25. Latest version of imagemagic with 64 bit version of ffmpeg running correctly. If I upload an mp4 or any other format, right away I get the error but if I look in C:\Apache2\htdocs\dolphin\flash\modules\video\files\ I see the first frame of the clip in a large and a small jpj file. So it looks like it gets there then quits. I think I may have a CRON problem as when I run the host tools I see an error that says "crontab is not recognized as an internal or external command" I set up the cron.bat file in the same folder as the cron.php . It runs every minute. I am so lost and frustrated I nolonger know what to do. I am in IT and can walk around very quickly if someone is willing to help me I would really appreciate it. |

Cron is not available on Windows.
To be honest. I refuse to run dolphin on a windows box. As far as i am concerned, apache, php, ect were all written for linux and have no business running on a windows server.
Try talking to dolphin_jay. He has experience with windows machines. But personally, i still recommend linux for running dolphin.

You know after 4 weeks of fighting battle after battle with this on Windows 7 /64. I was thinking the same thing, enough is enough. I am a RHEL newbie so I am a little skeptical as to weather I can get this going on RHEL 6.x but I do have a subscription and am going to download the ISO now. I just needed to hear that from someone else. Its been a very very frustrating experience trying to get it working on Win7.
Thanks again,

First of all you are running Windows 7 with is not a server OS; Of course with a non-profit you are not wanting to start talking about buying a Windows Server OS.
Are you planning on hosting this in house? Will the box just be for running the site?
My recommendation is to rebuild the box with CentOS 6.5 and take it from there. The CentOS repositories are a bit out of date but you can download and install other repositories. However, the CentOS repositories will be sufficient and you can install everything using yum. I will tell you to stick to the LAMP stack although the LEMP stack is just as easy.

You will get a lot more support from the community with RHEL (or CentOS as it is based on Red Hat Enterprise) than windows. There are those here running Dolphin on a windows box but most here are linux base.

I am thinking from your post that this is going to be an in-network portal setup; am I correct? Geeks, making the world a better place |
I wanted to host it at home for them. I have a couple nice servers and access to licensed versions of Windows Server 2008 R2 RHEL Subscription etc. I tried this on a Windows 7/64 workstation as a proof of concept for them. Long sad story as to how I got involved but anyways. I have a registered domain name and have a dedicated ip-address. I am going to take your advise and start all over right now using the latest version of RHEL. Thanks I will let you guys no how I made out by morning :) |
if you haven't blown up the windows install let me know. You can get dolphin running in like 10 minutes on windows .... https://dolphin-techs.com - Skype: Dolphin Techs |
don't take this the wrong way GG but you are providing miss information on this one. IIS is the same on windows 7,8, 2008, 2012... I hosted dozens of sites php and asp.net on windows 7 for years side by side. https://dolphin-techs.com - Skype: Dolphin Techs |

This is good to know, one can save a bit of change by not buying Microsoft Server 2012 R2 although I see TigerDirect has Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials - 64-Bit, English for $400.00; not sure of the differences in Essentials from the other.
I wonder if the OP knew to download the Windows version of ffmpeg?

Any update on if he switched or stayed with Windows? Jay, have you consider compiling a tutorial on Dolphin on Windows or at least the base steps? Geeks, making the world a better place |

Sorry guys, I thought it would be much quicker, as you advised, I wiped it all out, and I am now running CentOS. Voila everything working. I wasted 8 weeks trying to get it to work on a windows 7 /64 workstation.

If you are still interested in getting it to run on a Windows box, Dolphin_jay has offered his services; he is the man to go to for Dolphin on Windows; or well, not to say that others on here may not be knowledgeable in Dolphin on Windows but that I only know that Jay has Dolphin running on windows and can offer help.
