Desktop application vs. Facebook connect

Hi Team!

Greetings to all from London!

I have noticed a problem with Desktop aplication and would liek to see your help / advise regarding this.

I've got D7.0.4 as well as Deanos Facebook connect installed all working like a charm exept:

1)

When user creates a account on my Web by using "Connect with Facebook" - account gets transfered to my website, user loggs on later on by click connect with Facebook etc. all working fine. However user ca't log on to Desktop application - error: "User authentication Failed"

Only users who have created their accounts in a standard method - filling in the join form can log on to Desktop application with no problems.

Can I ask you please to advise?

2)

Once user created his account using Facebook connect he can only log on on the main page using Facebook connect feature - he can't log on usign standard method - putting user name and password. When trying gets pop up error: "Your username or password was incorrect. Please try again"

Only users who created their accounts by using join form can log on in that way...

Is there any way someone who created his account through Facebook Connect can log on in a traditional way? Putting username and password?

Thanks a milion for your help.

Kind regards,

C.

This is becuse all facebook connect modules generate a random password. The password used on facebook cannot be pulled from facebook. Security reasons.

So for any member to login using the standard auth methods they must setup a new password.

If they will edit their account to include a password, then they will be able to login the traditional way. You just need to make some field mandatory that is not filled by Facebook Connect, like headline for example, and they should be redirected to the profile page next time they login? at which point they will be required to complete profile, including password, and ... voilà!

Marco,

I've tried your advise and managed to redirect members to the edit profile page in a way you've discribed (adding a field which is not pulled by FB Connect - headline and made it mandatory).... however is there any way password change after 1st Facebook Connect login is mandatory? I've got mandatory ticked in change password block in profile fields builder.

If user doesn't put anything in change password field it will be saved as it is i.e. as generated by FB connect what we don't want.... as later user won't be able to log in with the standard auth method...

Do you propose any solution for this?

Many thanks and apprisiate your guidance on the resolution...

Regards,

C

Hi All,

Would anyone know the resolution how user can be forced to change his password after 1st login through FBconnect to resolve this issue of unmatching passwords?

Or maybe would have other idea to resolve this problem, so Facebook Connect users can log on using conventional auth way of logging on as well as use Desktop application withough any problems?

Thanks a milion!

Regards,

C.
