Default privacy for albums/photos, etc.

How can I set things up so that the default visibility for newly added photos and albums is "members" instead of "public"?  I have a members-only type of site and for the most part, across the board, the default view for all user content should either be members, friends or my.  People are skipping over this setting and making their content more widely available than it should be.

If I disable the "public group" in settings users albums and photos display as locked "private" even if privacy is set to "members', and when creating a new album/photo, the privacy is defaulted to "default". Just having the privacy default selection being "members" would help things out a lot for me.

Did you try Dashboard>>Privacy Settings>>Photos......Allowing viewing to: Me Only/Public/Members/Friends ?

Yes. There is no problem setting the privacy settings, I would just rather that the default be members rather than public.

Found that someone has addressed this before:

I made the change in the database but only because I couldn't find a better way.  Messing with the db is not to be done on a whim.  If you insist on doing it that way then back up your database.  Then also back up the sys_privacy_defaults table (as an extra backup).  Then, in sys_privacy_defaults find the row with action_id 11 and edit the associated group_id from 3 to 4.

CYA Note: though I was taught programming and database structures in university, it was a LONG time ago... so I'm just guessing this is an 'okay' way to change the default photo privacy settings for members that have not set their own (if you allow them to).

Edit... having looked at that link I'd be inclined to follow it ... looks like lots of knowledgeable people contributed to it.  Not sure why sys_privacy_actions and sys_privacy_defaults have overlapping information... could be that one table is not used any more.  If I remember right I changed both tables.
