Don't use the admin to backup your database, use the tools in your control panel or phpMyAdmin or similar.

It's true that Dolphin has a database backup feature, but I also find it's better to use phpMyAdmin from your control panel. phpMyAdmin has more features, and is less likely to run into complications.

What control panel are you using?  You can set up a cron job to run at 2 am each night to back up your database automatically.

Nathan is right. I've tried Dolphin's Backup Database few times and it screwed me over! Best to stick with phpMyAdmin.

You can make a manual backup from cPanel -> Files -> Backups. You should also be able to make a full account backup from the Backup Wizard (next to Backups in cPanel). If neither are visible, it means your host removed them, which isn't nice.

phpMyAdmin should be listed under cPanel -> Databases. To backup from there, select your database and go to the Export link in the header. Select all tables and export the database to a SQL file.

I don't know about cPanel; if you don't see a back up tool that you can schedule, then you might be restricted to manual backups.
