D pro hosted videos don't embed on other sites. y?

Dolphin pro hosted videos don't embed on other sites. why? With every video when you upload a embed code is generated. Many times i have tried to copy that code from videos and  paste on different places, so dolphin website uploaded videos can be seen on other websites or forum. But it never worked for me.

This problem goes way way back.

Do a search.

The code is a Flash <object> embed, so it doesn't work on mobile devices (besides BlackBerry 10). If the actual code itself can't be added, that's a limitation of the other site. Hopefully the embed feature is revamped for 7.2/Dolphin Pro.

I have been testing demo.boonex.com videos on DU. The embed never worked. So i was wondering dolphin is not a good platform if you want to host videos on it. Some serious work need to be done on it. I have a little hope cause i havn't seen any video module for DU so for Dpro i don't think it would be resolved. Yes i have spent a great amount of time to do some search on forum but nothing came out.

That goes back to 7.0.x, and the problems uses such as this had. It was a complete mess.

D Pro, how are you using Dolphin Pro when it has not been released yet and won't be released until after the Dolphin U (stupid name) beta is released?

And speaking of Dolphin 7.1.x, I have used the embed code on other sites without issues.  There was an issue with using the code within Dolphin and I reported it and a ticket was created for the problem.

Statements like this one, are like fingernails on a chalk board to me.  What is so hard to understand about this statement from Andrew Boon?

"Earlier we announced that Dolphin 7 line would be called Dolphin Classic. We have given the idea a bit more consideration and decided to call it Dolphin PRO instead. So, there will be Dolphin PRO and Dolphin U."

Furthermore, if one reads Andrew Boon posts one will see that Dolphin Pro will be the 7.2 release of Dolphin, not the 7.1.x, with the release of 7.2, the name will change to Dolphin Pro.  Currently there is no Dolphin Pro and it is important to know what version someone is using.  No one is using Dolphin Pro yet because it has not been released.

No, you are the one that can not comprehend it, Dolphin Pro is not out yet.  No one is using Dolphin Pro, maybe I need to get radefantasy to explain it to you.

Actually, it seems you both may be right. Looking at the post - it looks as if all Old dolphin 7's are being called Dolphin Pro - which means GG's statement about clarifying which one would be appropriate. But at the same time - it looks as if these Dolphin 7's are going to be called Dolphin Pro - but the post does not state when this name will be actually used, and as such, can be used now it seems. So Dolphin Pro is an accurate name, but which version of Dolphin Pro is being used needs to be stated. That's just the way I read it.

But - back to the original topic. I never did like the ability of embedding videos in another site. Specifically because, I have to pay for the bandwidth and space used for these videos. If I am going to pay for the bandwidth and space, then they need to be viewing the videos on my site, not on someone elses.

No other module will give you more page views than the video module. So it is the most important module in term of revenue generating. You can limit the max upload limit to save bandwidth.  e.g each video max 25mb. Right now there is problem with meta tag sharing but andrew told he gona fix it. So you can give an incentive to users to share revenue if they upload and share video hosted on you website. your cost of hosting will be covered when you will get more views.  one other way to save bandwidth is the solution in DU right now "Storage limit ". Allocate certain storage limit to users so they don't make your website a video dumping zone. But i don't think andrew gona introduce the storage limit in Dpro :/

My comment was not so much about the size of the files being uploaded, but the fact that the bandwidth is being used from my server, but my site is not getting the traffic for those viewers to see whats on my site. Instead someone else gets the benefits of my videos without having to pay for anything regarding those videos.

That is correct.  Dolphin Pro is currently at Version 7.1.4

Please check if you have the following file in your site's root folder:

crossdomain.xml

If it isn't there you can copy it from Dolphin root folder.

Smaller the video quicker it will finish ;) so four 25mb will give you 4 page views but one 100 mb will give you 1 page view. There is this thing called double click from google they give you ads in videos, so where ever your video is embedded your ads will appear in that video :)

it doesnt matter what size the video is. If a video is on my site and then posted on your site, and people come to your site and it gets 5 million views - that 5 million view bandwidth is being paid for by me, thats my issue with embedding videos on other sites. I am not youtube and do not have the money or the servers to provide such a service. So, if you want to see a video posted on my site - you have to come to my site to view it.

I understand about the ads - but who really pays attention to the adds. As soon as that 5 seconds is up - I immediately skip the ads in youtube, and most others probably would too - thus making the ads suggestion a waste of time to implement. Thats just my thought. But for those who do want the embed - yes - this needs to be fixed, but at the same time if an option for those who do not want their videos embedded can be added as well.

@ AlexT

I have no problem embedding videos on other sites, however:

This IS a problem:

I have a video album with privacy set to "Me Only".  I should not be able to embed that video in some other site, yet I can.  Any videos, or other media with privacy settings other than "Public", should not be embeddable on other sites.... the media should be replaced with some sort of access denied message when a non-public video is served up to an external domain.

For example, this video: http://houstonlively.com/m/videos/view/Wildlife

As you can see, permission is denied

Yet here the video is, embedded on another site: http://bastardbook.com/forum/#topic/Admin-test-topic.htm

Videos set to "Me Only" aren't a real problem, as the owner of the video is the only one that could view the embed code, however when the privacy is set to "Friends", those "Friends" can see the embed code.  Perhaps the solution is as simple as not showing the embed code for videos and other media with a viewing permission set to something other than "Public".

I bet if i put my ear up against your head, I would hear the ocean.  When the owner of Boonex says that the 7 line will now be called Dolphin Pro, I have to give him the benefit of the doubt, and conclude that he knows what he wants  to call his own product.  Just because you live in Bizarro World, doesn't mean the rest of us want to live there with you.
