Cron Daemon Errors - PHP Safe Mode...?

I'm receiving cron errors every minute in my mailbox specifying the following (and I quote):-

<font color="red">safe_mode is On, disable it</font> <br /> Please go to the <br /> <a href="http://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/GenDolTShooter">Dolphin Troubleshooter</a> <br /> and solve the problem.

Am I right in saying this is telling me that PHP Safe Mode is switched on and this is the reason for the email? Because in actual fact, safe mode is switched off and it even states this in the host parameters section in the admin tools panel of Boonex Dolphin 7.

Can anyone advise on what I can do to resolve this please? Is it a bug, should I report it in the bugs section?

I'm getting thousands of emails every day due to this.

Thanks

Your server's cron daemon may be processing the cron jobs using the system's PHP configuration, which may have safe_mode enabled. Contact your web hosting provider to make any needed changes. Thanks for your reply, I removed all the rubbish from my original post, don't know why that got inserted.

I have a dedicated VPS and full access to everything. PHP Safe Mode is switched off in my control panel and despite the cron errors, everything does appear to be functioning correctly on my site.

Please see the below however for info from my php configuration:

safe_mode: Local Value = Off | Master Value = On

safe_mode_exec_dir: Local Value = no value | Master Value = no value

safe_mode_gld: Local Value = Off | Master Value = Off

safe_mode_include_dir: Local Value = no value | Master Value = no value

sql.safe_mode: Local Value = Off | Master Value = Off

I'm wondering whether the master value for safe_mode being on is causing the errors? I have no idea about the difference between local and master values but do you think this may be the problem?

Many thanks,

Geoff

If you are using a local php.ini file to over-ride the master system settings, you can indicate this in your crontab.

Example:

0 0 * * * php -c /home/username/public_html/periodic/php.ini -q -f /home/username/public_html/periodic/cmd.php

The part you are interested in is:

-c /home/username/public_html/periodic/php.ini

And when you are sure that problem is fixed, add a

>/dev/null 2>&1

to the end of the cron, so you don't get emails from it.

Dolphin can't work with safe mode, you should write to your hosting provider about this

safe_mode: Local Value = Off | Master Value = On

He/she already has it off for his/her site it appears, by using a local php.ini or .htaccess

He/she is asking about how to turn it off for his/her cron jobs.

Problem fixed, it was the master value I needed to change to Off as well which I did via SSH. Sorted. Thanks for the replies.

Your openiviter is not default dolphin's module! You'll need contact with module's vendor  and ask him about this trouble with cron jobs. I guess that your module's cron jobs should be configured separate from dolphin's cron jobs

You won't get any response or acknowledgement from OpenInviter directly as I have tried due to issues with the OpenInviter module as provided by AndrewP - They are hopeless.

Good luck trying to speak with them though.

@zigojacko- actually i mailed  AndrewP last month as i wanted to send inviter mails to recipients multiple times (as he set it as one times only) and i got proper replies too... I asked him about this SPAM problem in invitation mails n he responded well but wasnt sure about it as it may b domain related too..
