Contact Us Form on homepage pros/cons

Basically, my topic asks it all. Our project manager wants to put the contact us form on the homepage, and I have my reasons that it should not be on the home page. If anyone else could respond with pros and cons so that we could properly review this "wish" it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Homepage is what you have to keep the user on site otherwise they come and they go. Show things that can engage user or show what your site is about.

so much to do....

Thanks for your response, Prashank. Looks like more info is needed.

A random person can't just create an account.

If a random person wants to become a client, the need for the Contact Us Form comes into play. This is basically a request to be added as a client. Fields will be added with specific questions. And completion of the Contact Us Form sends an email is sent to the office.

One of my reasonings for not putting the contast us form on the homepage is spacing. The Contact Us Fom takes up space that could be better used for catching a persons attention.

Heres the catch, though. I was hoping someone else would say that. I am looking for the pros and cons so that we can intelligently make the decision. My reasonings could be totally minute in benefits, compared to some other reasons that others may have that I didnt even think of.

You could put the contact us form in a collapsed box/division/slide-out/whatever and have it show when they click on contact us.

Geekgirl idea is good or you could try the lightbox thingy dolphin uses for logins.

thanks again for your repliues - I am not looking for a solution to not putting it on the homepage, I am looking for pros and cons of doing so. That way we can decide intelligently whether or not to display on the home page. The earlier listed concern is just one of many concerns that I have, and looking for as many pros and cons as possible.

Pro: easy to see for those wanting to contact you.

Con: takes up space and it is in the way for those that doesn't want to contact you.

OK, so our suggestion was to minimise the Con.  You have a nice visible button, Contact Us. and it uses the pop-up form.  That way you get some of what you want, your boss gets some of what she wants.

Con: Makes a nice visible spam target.

@deanos - another of my concerns - and this to me is the biggest

@GG - considering there is  a link for the contact us form which goes to the default contact us form - I am very happy with leaving it as is.

well - looks like the project manager wants to get the spam. he wants the contact us form directly on the home page.
