I have a member claiming that the built-in chat is too slow and other complaints. The member wants to have comet chat installed on the server. Before I jump on comet chat, I would like feedback on it and if it is better than the built in chat system; I am talking about the simple chat in the member bar, not the full chat room thing, where you can chat just you and another member; the chat that is accessible from the profile action menu. For one thing, is it easy for members to opt out of comet chat the way the can with the built-in one? Any feedback and opinions are welcome here. Any known problems with comet chat? Also, is the comet chat completely independent of Comet Chat's site? Does it install only on my server and does not send anything through their servers? I don't want any kind of hosted solution on my server because it may go bye-bye at some future date.
Thanks in advance.

On the demo site, it does not show the member bar. How does it work with the member bar in place? Geeks, making the world a better place |
Hi i have comet chat installed on my site:
Good Features: Simple changes via Comet Chat admin panel, fast and easy to install, lots of extensions/modules to add.
Bad Features: Mobile Web Chat is a bit slow and 'Jumpy', Cometchat desktop is an extra £100+
I could describe lots of cool features about it and you could even test it if you would like to on a site?
I hope this has helped

Also, what do you mean regarding the member bar? |
If you message me with questions, i will answer them all for you |

go over to viptopia, we use comet chat over there for im'ing the default chat sucks almost as much as rayz video chat.
I removed the entire member bar.. although there are a few things from it i would like to add to my comet chat bar

I think if the comet chat sits on top of the member menu bar, then if I can centre it and add padding to the sides to force it inside the member menu, and still have access to the member menu items, then it might work. Geeks, making the world a better place |
im sure you could,, but combining them would be the right way to do it,,, i just gave the member bar the axe.. and if i ever figure out how to add things from the member bar to the cometchatbar then i will do so till then i just stick with comet chat... also use it on my rangerschat site MY SITES http://viptopia.net general social networking | http://www.rangerschat.com/ niche site |
