Chat rooms Were Gone

What the hell is going on?

All my 3 chatrooms were gone. All the settings, descriptions and the rooms themself were gone. The only setting that left were the moderators of the rooms.

I can just go back and re-create the room but this is not normal. The rooms were created using admin account and existed since the beginning of the site until today.

I can only think of 2 possibilities:

The people helped me on the site screwed up.

The host screwed up.

Where are the chat rooms stored, file base or database?

 I don't know, it's dolphin Rayz built-in chat module.

Was wondering where one would go if one had a backup.  Contact Rayzz, he has always been good to answer questions for me.

it's no big deal, I can just re-create the rooms but it seems strange so I bring it up.

It would be useful to know why.  What could cause this?  Human is one answer of course but if something about the application could cause this then it would be nice to know.  And if human by accident; it would be nice to have some preventives in place to help prevent human error.

I read about this problem many times before and never experienced this problem. Then suddenly it also happened to me. So I compared the database to a backup some hours before and couldn't find any difference. Also the RMS directory. But it was nearly exactly the same. I restored the ray tables and the RMS directory and it worked again. I spend around 5 hours to find the source of the problem and gave up using the backup in the end. I only know that I did some port changes before but why and where the problem lies I never found out.

Thank you Dately for your information. So we can confirm this is a system error not human error. Because the people who helped me are experts in the Dolphin field.

damn, that's bad.

So somehow the table in the database was deleted. That's not good AT ALL.

NOW SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG.

When I tried to create a new chatroom, I have an error : error creating chatroom.

It did not tell me what kind of error or anything.

 Are you on RMS or your own?

The other site is working fine without any problem. same host.

so today, out of the blue, all my chatrooms are back. is there a ghost or something?

What about the database table?

If you saw missing database tables that cause your chat rooms to disappear and now the tables are back; as the return of the chat rooms would seem to indicate, this is concern for worry.  I would back up your entire database now.  You have a problem somewhere that needs to be addressed; either hardware or software.  You should also back up your site files.

 I did not notice or take a look before because the chatroom is always empty anyway. I don't feel confident enough to pour money (nor I have any money to pour) into advertising right now. Shit like this will drive the visitors away and your promotion funds will go down the toilet without any result.

 Thank you madam, I will try to develop a linux backup script whereas it will Rsync the whole site to my portable drive at home every hour.
