Chat from profile page?

I seem to remember there being a chat block on the messenger page.  I've made a lot of changes and this seems to have gone away.  Any idea on how to get that back?

I'm surprised there have been no replies.  It was more of an instant messenger than a chat.

The simple messenger (I think that is the name, the one on one chat) is from the action block on the profile page or I think it might also be on the pop-up you get when you hover over a person's avatar.  You have to install it in the backend; if you are not seeing it, make sure that it is installed.  It can be turned off in one's profile edit page if a member does not wish to get the request to chat.

 That's where I thought it was also.  So I tried uninstalling simple messenger and the reinstalled it, and it is nowhere to be found.  Where is it that a person can turn it off if they don't want to get the request to chat?

In their profile edit.  I am running 7.1 and it is there if a member has not turned it off.  To tell the truth, I don't know if the simple messenger settings is a Dolphin built in or something I added.  However, simple messenger does appear in the action block on the profile page or in the pop-up when you hover over a member's icon.

I think you are talking about the shoutbox.

The shoutbox will work on pretty much any page.

Just place the Following in a PHP block.

BxDolService::call('shoutbox', 'get_shoutbox');

Then place that block in whatever page you want. The chat that pops up when you hover over the avatar is not the same as the shoutbox.

That is a point, we first need to know if it is "simple messenger" or "shoutbox" that is the question.  Simple messenger is the one where there is an input box in actions on a profile page and it says chat beside it to the left.  Then when you are chatting, it pops up at the member menu bar.  If a member sets the settings to "me only" then the input box will not be on a member's profile page or in the pop-up when you hover over their avatar.

Thanks, it was simple messenger.  Even though I had it installed, I had the simple messenger setting off in the user actions section.  Thanks.

I'm not sure what shoutbox is, I don't have that installed.

But now my normal and video chat won't load.  They just keep saying 'LOADING'.

No, it was an RMS problem with my other hosting provider.  I switched providers and haven';t had the problem since.
