Chat Font size rethink needed

I beleve that we need a rethink on the chat font sizes and what they should be and what they are now.

As i understand it, the font size is set by a user to aid them in reading the text, NOT FOR MAKING YOUR TEXT BIGGER AND IN YOUR FACE OF EVERYONE ELSE.

I there for wonder if boonex have this wrong? If you choose font size 16, should that not make everyones text in chat on your screen size 16? and not only yout input fonts.

I struggle with reading small size 11 fonts inbetween size 14, 18, 20 fonts, so i am forever asking people to make their fonts bigger, when this should be something my font setting should do for me.

What are your thoughts?

If you goto the Flash Aps in your mods, open the settings in AV Chat and you can set the default font size in there.  I have chosen 16 which is big enough, but you can sellect what you like.

Hi sweetie, the problem with setting a minimum font size in settings, still does not overcome users POSTING IN YOUR FACE SIZE FONTS

all the chats i have been in the fonts settings a user sets, are for all the chats fonts on their screen not anyone elses. font size is to aid sight issues, not to post bigger text than the next person, its a bit like my dad is bigger than your dad syndrome.

You do know you can change the font default size in your browser right? Most people don't want that feature, they really do like being able to make their font appear a certain way to others..... I personally would not want how my font is displayed to only appear that way to me, it would completely defeat the purpose...

thats the whole point, you have colour and style to make your font unique, why do you need the IN YOUR FACE SIZE?

I dont know of any other chat that allows users to impose big fonts on my screen.

People should not have to change browser setting just to use a chat site and then change them back for everything else, i should be able to set the font size i want all chat text to appear to me. not be dictated to by anoying people that want to be IN YOUR FACE

Good idea Sammie.  Users should not be able to control the size of the font that others see,  I agree that this should be a local setting only.  Even bold and underline can get annoying.

Let me try and explain this a little better

Font size settings is important to people to control, because it aids them in a number of ways.

1/ if a user has sight problems, they can set the font size to what they need. people that are long sighted need smaller fonts than people who are short sighted. having text of verying sizes appear on your screen makes it very difficult to read the text.

2/ large text speeds up the chat room scrolling. not everyone can read at the same level, or speed, or ability, so some people would like small text so chat scrolls slow so they can keep up. others large text so they can see and read it, no matter if it goes faster up the screen.

3/ verying font sizes caused eye strain with the constant line by line focal ajustment  to read the different sizes, this leads to headaches, and people leaving chat because it causes them discomfort.

i have used that for 4 years. that is not going to address the problem of font sizes in your face. it will not address the headaches, the strained eyes. some of my members spend 18 hours a day in my chat. and go do chores while they chat.
