Changed IP Address and several things broke?

Hi!

I'm looking for some help - I did not move any files, database or anything. I'm still on the same domain name. But...

I just changed my IP address. Now several things are broken:

  • Bootstrap css files from theme not being referenced on the home page, but if you go to a profile page, then navigate to a module page, it works fine.
  • Forum RSS feed block is stuck on loading
  • reCaptcha not showing up

Maybe more. That's all I've found first pass. No 400 or 500 series errors or page load errors. It's like just certain stuff is not being pulled in.  Again, I did not move or change any files or databases. It's still on the same domain name. The only thing that changed was IP address.

I'm running Dolphin 7.1. Already tried clearing the cache. Not sure where else to go...

Where should I look to fix this? Help? Pretty please? I'm at a loss.

Ah ha. cache wasn't clearing properly. Don't I feel silly.

  • CSS issue is resolved.
  • ReCaptcha issue is resolved.

Forum RSS is still perpetually loading, though...

Also clear the files in /cache and /cache_public leaving the .htaccess file in place

clear the tmp folder as well.

Also the browser cache as well. Web browsers cache DNS, so you should clear all of your web browsers caches.

Thanks guys. :) Hmm, I cleared /cache, /cache_public, and /tmp. Still not loading forum RSS blocks. Is there another cache hiding somewhere I'm not finding...?

You said that you changed IP address.  Did you handle the change in the DNS?  Outline the steps you perform on the site after you changed the IP address.

My webhost did the IP change for me. Yes, the DNS changed (it would have to) but my domain did not. No files were edited.

Everything else is functioning normally after the caches were cleared. It's just the forum RSS blocks that will not load.

No idea why - I didn't do anything. But it just started working again on its own.

I guess that means, if anybody else runs into this problem, give it some time. :)

Thanks for your input everyone!

One day the forum block on my home page was doing the spinning thing.  I had done no changes to the site or server.  Then it cleared on its own and has been working ever since.  I guess somewhere, code or server, something was preventing it from fetching the feed.

Yeah, it's strange. It's working really slowly but at least it's working now. It hadn't been all day.

We'll see how she's behaving tomorrow.

How long ago was the IP changed?

DNS can take up to 72 hours to propagate. If it's been less than 72 hours, then you need to give things more time.
