Cannot Sign In Admin

I somehow deleted my admin account from my site, and now I cannot even get into the backend admin.

Can anyone help please.

If it's not working for him, it's obviously not working for the other one-thousand site admins not reporting it for some odd reason.

Now that this non-bug is in the correct forum:

Just register another account, and edit the newly created use in the 'profiles' table of your Dolphin database.  Change the 'role' of the new user to '3'.  The new user is then an admin.

Any content that you may have uploaded as the deleted admin, has gone bye-bye, and can only be restored from a site backup.

How do you do all that?

Perhaps it is just my simplistic approach; I thought there are 2 separate modules;

Front End - (Users, Members)

Backend (Admin)

So how does deleting a user (admin) screw up the backend admin? I did not even register as an admin user.

So there is something I am missing here. What is it?

How do get into the Profiles table - database?

Through any database management software such as phpMyAdmin.

In the database that you're editing, navigate to the profiles table and select to edit the entry for the account. Change the value for the "role" field to 3. Once you're done, empty the /cache/ (except for the .htaccess file) and /cache_public/ directories.

Ok Magnussoft I have found the profile database, the role my new admin is already at 3.

I am at the database, how do I clear cache? Please tell me exactly what and where I should clear.

Kindly advise please.

Thanks for all your quick responses and help. it is most appreciated.

Rob at JOOMBYTE, my hosting company was able to help me out.

I really wanted to learn how to fix this.

So can you please advise me why this happened? I mean is this not 2 separate modules (front end and a back end); how did deleting my account on the front end affect the admin at the back end?

The administrator is the first account created, which is done during installation. It's also your account. By deleting it, you also deleted the only account with access to the administration panel by default, which means you had to either restore the account from a backup or create a new account and then change it's role in the database to become an administrator. This is different from Dolphin 6.1 and lower, where administrators were not treated as actual members of the site.

Because admin accounts can login from either the front or the back, but it makes little difference to dolphin which entrance you use. There is only one admin account, and if you delete it, neither entrance will work.

Thanks to both of you for that explanation, I understand.

Very quickly then why does the admin on the front end have only a standard membership?

The administrator is under the standard membership level, but still has heightened permissions (complete control). When viewing a post by an administrator in the forums, you'll notice it does mention this. It probably would make more sense for administrators to not be under a membership level, but there's not really a problem with it, either.

Yes I see it now (in the forum).

On a different note;

I have setup the site such that all items a member can upload or add to the site have to be approved by the admin. Well where is it that the admin is informed about new entries. For instance if a member A joins and uploads a video, the admin has to approve before it can be posted. Well how does the admin know or how is he made aware by the system that there is items pending that need to be addressed?

Does he get an email? I have tried this and I do not see anywhere that the admin is notified. Kinda silly if i have to go thru each and every module every hour or so to check.

Please enlighten.
