Can keyword search be customized?

Is it possible to customize Keyword Search page (searchKeyword.php) so:

• content types not used on my site (e.g., ads, articles, video) don't appear in the list of searchable types shown?
• search results users can't access (i.e., Private) aren't displayed?

In the first case, users may wonder what some of these things are and why they're listed. The second case seems makes no sense at all. See attached image.

go to the database using phpmyadmin, look at the table sys_objects_search, remove whatever you dont want showing up on that search form.

BTW, backup your database in case you see adverse results. this worked for me on a fresh install of 7.0.5

Is there a way to remove unwanted items by editing a php file? Would rather not delete items completely from database table, just in case someone needs to restore them in the future.
