Button vs Checkbox?

Just can't keep it inside, I have to ask... Things like this just freaking me out...

Today I used to work on somebody's fresh installed website and had to deal with the language keys searching...

Dear Boonex team, please tell to silly guys like me, we have Dolphin 7.1.4 so far, and WHY there's still a checkbox instead of button on the search? And why it works only when it's checked? i.e. when I searched something and want to do next search, I have to uncheck box first, then type search criteria and then check this box again! Is there's any reasons to use a checkbox instead of normal button?

Why to not make a text field instead, where you have to type magic words like "Please search!", then type 10-digits password and select three radiobuttons to launch the search process?

I second this as I too find it rather annoying with the current setup.

What else is very annoying, is that delay when you edit menu items and save them: if you want to change something really fast in a couple menu items, you have to wait about 5 seconds on each saving while it says "Saved" and sloooowly disappears; when you have to edit 50 menu items, it adds about 5 minutes of totally wasted time. Damn it, can't find where to kill this delay...

The Ticket said it was fixed.  Maybe they fixed part of it.

The thing is screwy.  You have to uncheck to enter new filter.  How about just changing the text and then click on a button "Apply Filter" Want to enter a new filter, change the text and click on the "Apply Filter" again.

Read the comments. AlexT argued that it was a filter and changed the title and description after I gave up. He did fix a part of it so hitting the enter key submits the search (by auto-ticking the checkbox), but wouldn't budge on making it a button.

I never click the checkbox. I just type whatever I am looking for and hit Enter and it displays the results. then repeat for next search.

I can hit Enter as well, but this topic is more about user interface logic.

By AlexT logic, search engines should be using "filters" instead of "search" as well...
