Keeping in mind that my users are generally low tech in their abilities, who makes the easiest to understand and best designed photo gallery replacement for Dolphin 7.1

The only response I'd be able to give you would be that you're shit outta luck, so I'm going to keep quiet.

Help your low-tech users with a brilliantly composed and simple to understand answer to their photo questions; then add it as a Photo FAQ page. That's what I'm going to do.

Cool

We shouldn't have to do this shit because Boonex appear unable to produce a product with a simple user interface!

Why should we need a third party gallery just to make the photo system on a paid for and licensed product usable?

Its not frickin rocket science - just unclutter D and simplify it for members... fix this shit to start with....

No social website should end up so complex that you need to give users videos to show them how to use it... if you do they will go elsewhere - period.

D7.x.... does need a new standalone photo module building for it.

Would be a good earner Im sure for anyone who does it as most D users would buy it if they use any photos on their site!

Main features I would say it needs...

ability to have a profile photo album, that when you view it, keep you on the profile and not redirects you to the completely separate photos module.

Multiple albums should be available per profile, all viewable on lighbox without any redirection of page to view.

current - profile > profile album 'preview' > profile album > photo ... buy this time the breadcrumb has changed to m/photos etc... and you are not where you started by a long way...

Someone needs to develop it!

The D7  photo system works as it does, because Boonex has never been able to get the "shared photos" concept out of their head.  That's the way D6 photos worked, and in spite of a lot of us begging Boonex to ditch the shared photos concept, that concept is still lingering.  Boonex is of the mindset that everyone that that is a member of a Dolphin site, should be able to look at every other members photos, and that all those photos should be on one great big pile for everyone's convenience.

There shouldn't even be a separate photos module.  All photos are uploaded by someone who has a profile, and all their photos should be viewable as part of their profile, and ONLY as part of their profile.  Probably the only reason more people don't complain, is because this shared photos concept is probably liked by all of those porn site wannabes, and dating site wannabes, with their creepy little Dolphins sites that are nothing more than a waste of internet bandwidth.

I thought 'share photos' was a stupid concept in the days of Dolphin 6, and I still think it's stupid.  Guess what.... Trident's photos module is no different.  It's the same tired old stupid shared photos concept.  I think it's time someone brought Andrew Boone to his senses about photos and other media.  I'm sure a lot of you will disagree with my views on shared photos.... those of you that do disagree, probably own one of those creepy Dolphin sites I mentioned earlier.

I 100% fully, totally, completely, absolutely, unequivocally, unreservedly agree with houstonlively and daihlo. Why would you want to merge Profile Photos with Shared Photos ? It is mind boggling and beyond comprehension of ordinary thinkers.

Like i said before about the developers team of boonex... they are stuck in a loop of old and depreciated ways of thinking.
Developers, you really need to create much better and simpler modules!

I just started a new thread. "Fixing what I got" I absolutely agree with HL and most of the rest of you about this but now I'm up against the wall. Since I think Trident will rival the old fish forum in it's infinite lack of wisdom, I am going to make one more attempt to get my 7.1 site into a reasonably functional format. First step is to get hold of the photos and videos and try to make the gallery at least usable.

This can't be that hard to do. Someone could create a mod for the market and probably sell a copy every time soneone installed a dolphin script. If you charged $5 a pop, you'd probably do very well....

AndrewP havnt specified if it compatible with 7.1.5 but it will work with 7.1.4. it is a nice collection but problem if we you will buy it you gona use only one of them and rest of them are going to useless.
