Background Image is resizing automaticly

Hello evreybody,

i have a small problem on my page meleq.de/community/...The problem is: i defined an background image in common.css, and the size is 1280pxx800px BUT it shows a different size on the browser...normaly on my page it should show the whole screen with background but i have on the sites white areas. I made a Screenshot and count the wisth of my backround image and it was 1163px ???!

I couldnt find anything to solve it...i guess some script is resizing the image or smthg but what?!

hmmm on bigger screens this to small, you could fix the background picture to stay, and use a bigger picture like 1600 x 900.

Like this:

background:transparent url(../images/bg_pattern.jpg);
background-repeat:no-repeat;
background-attachment:fixed;

tahnk you...but i am huntig the source of this problem...
smthg has effect on the background but what. It is not the normal way that ur background is getting smaller without u doing anythuing. When i put a background with 1280x800 size then i should have it on full screen with the same solution. right?! yes!

Am i the only one who has that right now?

When you put a background in CSS you have to define its properties.  When you fail to define them, such as repeat, then your browser will define default properties.  You need to use the css tags to make it appear the way you want and there is no problem to hunt down.  The problem is lack of definition in css.

I am having an issue like this - My background looks good on my screen with a resolution of but when it goes to a larger resolution you can see the image with thick lines around it, how do I make it so that it will stay the same on every resoloution, I have gone through the posts on here and have decided not to make a new topic just hope that you can help me from this one, I have done what this one says but it does not seem to be working.

In short what I want is the background to show the same on all screens no matter what the resolution is, it should show the same amount of the background on all screens, I hope this makes sense and I have wroded it correctly.

Here is what my common.css looks like -

I know its got something to do with this part here but how do I make the background image look in the same position and size no matter what the screen size is?
