Back Invite

Ok, I know there is some disparity with many people here in using the English language but c'mon

What the heck is a 'Back Invite"?

Ok, so in English terms, the "Back Invite" is the same as saying "Don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out"?

Ok, I know this sounds stupid but I really do need to know. I get friend invites. If I go to my friend acceptance page, I can select the radio button "from skyforum" or "to skyforum" Select the "from" button and I am presented with the ability to "Back Invite" users to be my friend

WHAT THE HELL DOES IT MEAN!!?

Am I disinviting them? Am I inviting them again, or am I just spinning my wheels because it's put there just to F--k with me?

it does appear that it is reverse symantics here, but then again, there is no telling. so if you get an invite, there is an option to back invite, or reciprocate the invitation it does appear.

so maybe the option is that you can invite me, i can accept it, and then i can accept you. maybe friendships in the kyrg are different than the US. if you are invited, then its understood to be an accepted favor.

good question, doubt we will ever see the answer. maybe this would be a more suitable position on the blog. since this is not a bug report, and this is not a dispute or any other subltie that would disenfranchise you from the boon kingdom, i one asked about something really weird i found in the css, basically was told i didnt know what i was talking about, because seems these guys really dont want you looking at their blunders and then asking them what they mean.

Back Invite, what is it guys, any body, have a clue, i think these pages that are coded should require the identity of the one who was coding it, then we would know where to direct such an inquiry.

Back Invite ..... hmmmmm

similar to jap slap ?

lolll...it is indeed strange, I mean, I do agree, if someone invites you to be friends with, then it's supposed to work both ways...

Other thing, I really should not be posting at almost 4 in the morning, so instead of quoting your post, I reported it...now, why is not there a button/warning like "are u sure you want to do this"....sorry about that...

You're kidding right? Back Invite is "remove from friends List"?

The obvious question then. Why doesn't it just say "Remove from friends list, or un-befriend, or "I hate this person now", or anything else that would make more sense?

Oh, and what does "Will glad to help you" mean?

I think he's trying to say (jokingly) that it shouldn't say "Back Invite," but something more understandable to those other than the ones who implemented it.

I hate that I have to agree with you HL. Having said that,

I am trying to make a point here. There are many areas in Dolphin where the English used makes very little or no sense whatsoever. You only need to try and administer the site to see it. Would it be that hard to get someone proficient in English to do a quick proof read on some of this stuff before it's released?

or "Deny friend request"

Can you explain exactly what the purpose is?

well glad to see some feedback on this. so back invite means to remove from friends list.

so if Befriend means to accept as friend, or create a friendship, then you are right AlexT, this particular phrase has no real meaning in its presentation. what is it that facebook calls it when you remove an individual from your friends list. i have no clue, because i am not a facebook user per se'.

well it took me about 15 minutes to find this.

as a suggestion, here is what i have found:

so the quasi pro is that its called Remove from Friends

Umm,

Can't help but offer my 2 bits, changing "Back Invite" to "Delete" doesn't make sense either does it?

In Dashboard>Activity>Friends  (capture.gif) the delete button makes sense, Delete Friend.

But in Dashboard>Activity>Friend Requests (capture2.gif) having a Delete button instead of Back Invite is still confusing to a member,

should it not be "Take Back Invite" ?  as it "Takes Back" an unanswered friend request?

Noooo...lolll....u got me wrong, I mean, if they want to have an alert like that  "are u sure u want to delete friend", is fine with me; in fact, if  they want to have double or even triple checks for any action an user does in his account, perfect also (some people do have fat fingers or small brains)....

Or like me, if  they are half asleep, they do mistakes....when I posted here I reported on DosDawg' post instead of quoting him; in this forum, if you click on "report" the post it just does it, lol, without any further confirmation....and "report" action is kind of sensitive, right? So there, please make a warning or something for that...or should I open another post in forum since is not related to the initial issue....

Help...:))))

The
Back Invite is showing up on my "From Skyforum" friends request page. In other words, these are the requests I have sent to people that have not responded to them yet, right?

That means, the Back Invite button should actually say "Cancel Friend Request(s)"

Ok seriously, I have spent almost two days looking at this and wondering what I have got into.

Let's face it - if it is the English targeted market we are looking at, or anyone from the giant facebook - just about everything needs revamping - MAN? WOMAN? How about SEX is 'Gender' and Male Female - sure its dating software but nothing wrong with toning the phrases down to 'G'
