Avatar vs Profile Picture

so my site is set up to use avatars so my members won't have to go through the stupidity of having their main pic change every time they upload a new photo.

it works well in most places but there are a few blocks (Spy, Friends of Friends) that still display the last updated pic instead of the selected avatar.

also, sometimes the avatar is correctly displayed on the member's Profile page and other times its the grey silhouette, even though they have uploaded and saved an avatar that shows elsewhere around the site. 

anyone got a way to fix this??

to elaborate a bit:

1. In the spy sometimes it has the last uploaded photos, sometimes it has the grey generics (even if a member has saved an avatar)
2. Friends of Friends displays the latest uploaded pics
3. In the PK Forums the correct avatar displays in the threads but on the homepage its the last uploaded
4. Profile, Account and elsewhere around the site shows the last uploaded to the left of the submenu
5. going to another member's Profile sometimes shows the grey generic, sometimes the AV

I'm far from a coding genius, but I would assume there is code, or multiple lines for the difft mods, that dictates where the pic is pulled from.  if so, there has to be some sort of hack that directs it to pull the AV instead. 

Check again. See if it's working properly now. I believe i found the problem.

I too am far from a coding genius and it's a need a way for my users to add photos without their profile picture changing automatically.  Please I need help.

Currently, if a member uploads a new photo to their profile album, it becomes the current profile photo that is shown.  Of course members can rearrange the album so that any photo they choose is the profile photo.  If you want it so that a member uploads a photo to their profile photo album without it changing the profile photo, you will need to make changes in the code.

Go to your admin section and install the Avatar module.  Then your users can go to their Account page, click the Avatar link and upload a photo to be used as their Avatar (profile photo). This is the image displayed with their username.  This photo will not change every time they upload photos into their profile album. Avatars don't have to be a cartoon character image, they can be real photos.  Hope this helps.
