Avatar stupidity

Boonex is the only software I've seen where the Avatar is a complete, totally inconvenient and separate function from the profile picture upload.

The avatar should update itself with the last profile picture added like every other site.  This has always been something that confuses users, adds an extra step and is plain useless to still have after all this time, complaints by your users/developers, etc.

I totally agree.  I wish there was a way to make the Avatar and profile photo the same.  Some modules from 3rd party developers refer to the avatar image at the profile photo, and some of my members do not have avatars because they have profile photos.

It amazes me.  They have had several years to figure this out.  They want to act like a Social Network, but their "features" like Avatar among others are just complete amateur rubbish.

No consistency.  Example, the upload a video on Wall isn't the same as the Video Module. Why not?

Who leaves video comments? WTH?

I came back to see if this had gotten any better and it hasn't.  Ridiculous.  Andrew and the rest should tear this crap down...take a moment to think about their structure and program it like it means something. I'm tired of this quilt of bad code and sloppy modules.

Actually, I use to be on a commercial social network that has since closed shop and the avatar module was exactly like the one on Dolphin while profile photos were separate.  This makes perfect sense.  If someone wants to use a photo of them for their avatar, that is certainly possible.  What does not make sense is the copying of the avatar to profile photos, that should have been removed a long time back.

Geeks, making the world a better place

Avatar functionality can use separate Avatar module as well as Photos module.

To use Photos as avatars (latest photo uploaded into profile's photo module will be used as avatar) go to admin > settings > advanced settings > profiles > Member Thumb & Member Thumb Icon, then delete Avatars module.
