Avatar issues with D 7.0.3

I have wiped out a site and did fresh install of 7.0.3 and have issues adding avatars.

Admin profile is the only one on site, and when I go to add avatar, it shows an error  across the uploader:

Warning: copy(/home/amorenet/public_html/modules/boonex/photos/data/files/7.jpg) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/amorenet/public_html/modules/boonex/photos/classes/BxPhotosUploader.php on line 396

Additionally it stops the upload. It looks like a permissions item, but it should be uplaoding since I can upload pitcures without any issue to the profile.

Any ideas?

Pictures and Avatars are stored in different locations, so the fact that you can upload pictures is irrelevant.

It is a permission problem as you suspected it appeared to be.

The folders

modules/boonex/avatar/data/images/

And

modules/boonex/avatar/data/tmp

Must be set writable. Mode 777

Proper permissions are set.  Both directories are set to 777.

I have deleted all photos... and try again... this is what I discovered

1) You go to Dashboard, then to Avatar.

2) You select the browse and select the FILE... and when the pages reloads with the image, you get the error message

Warning: copy(/home/amorenet/public_html/modules/boonex/photos/data/files/15.jpg) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/amorenet/public_html/modules/boonex/photos/classes/BxPhotosUploader.php on line 396

3) Uncheck the option for "copy image to profile images folder" and do step #2 again

4) No error message and avatar appears where you can edit and accept.

So it must be the permissions for the user photos folder, but I do not know where it is located.

I did not suspect the photos folder becuse you said you had no problems uploading photos, yet the error message which i read more throughly does indeed point to the photos folder.

So lets check all folders that have anything to do with photos of any kind.

Start by removing any files in the dolphin root tmp folder. /tmp than make sure that folder is writable. mode 777.

You already checked avatar, so now check the photos folder.

modules/boonex/photos/data/files set to mode 777

OK I went into the folder for photos, and deleted all files.... expect for one uploaded as an avatar.  Opened the profile and made sure all files were cleaned out of album. Now Avatar upload works fine... with or without checking the image upload to profile photos.
