Auto add to subscribers upon sign-up

I notice by default that when a new member signs up, it doesn't automatically subscribe them to the site, please can someone advise if this is possible to do. Surely it would make sense for any new members to be automatically signed up to the site they have just registered to.

Thanks

Anyone know if this is easy to do?

Hello,

I am a novice, but maybe this helps

Look at Settings -Moderation - Automatic.  There are two check boxes that might be the cause of your issue:

1.  profile confirmation without Confirmation Email:

2.  Automatic profile activation after joining:

One other possibility is Advanced Settings - Other - Registration by invitation only

I am afraid that is the extent of my knowledge.  Hopefully it helps

None of those are related to the newsletter subcription/mailing list no. Thanks for the reply though :)

I did not realize that was what you were asking.  If you do not get many responses, you might want to reword your post and title.  It makes sense once you clarified, but it was not my first impression.

I disagree, I feel the article title describes exactly what I am trying to do to be honest.

I want members to be automatically added to the list of subscribers when signing up.

I don't think I can change the title anyway. Thank

By default a new member will be automatically signed up to your site, you can check it here: table profiles, EmailNotify is set to1.

Subscribers box at the the homepage is usually used to visitors.

When you will send a email (Tools -> Mass Mailer ) then you have the ability to choose to send email to either subscribers or members or both, this way you can have different content in your email to subscribers and members.

When you send email to members you can also choose between man/woman, age from/age to, country and membership levels.
