Assistance With Mass Email Please

I think I've read through all the forum notes on how to get the Mass Email functionality working but I'm just not finding the right answer.    My apologies for the newbie needing so much assistance.

I just recently upgraded from 7.0.3 to 7.04.  I did not attempt to use the mass email until today.  The queue has 83 emails in it but they are not being processed.   I have never received periodic reports.

The cron job command - cd /home/ourlifes/public_html/periodic; /usr/local/bin/php -q cron.php

I do get the error message emails generated by a cron job.

I tried every command in the tutorial and tried manually running the cron job multiple times.  Still have 83 mails in the queue.  Nothing is generating any errors.

Any other suggestions?  The mail queue is now at 87.   It looks like messages regarding group updates are added to this queue.   I know these messages have been delivered in the past.  Does that mean that the mass emailer was working at some time in the past?

I'm also having trouble with the mass mailer.

I have two test accounts plus a small number of new members and did my first mass email today.

My admin email account recieved the message twice plus the report twice but neither of my test membership accounts recieved anything.

So I'm unsure of what's happening.

Any help is appreciated

Mass Email is still not working for me.  I tried to run it manually and nothing went out of the queue.

same, mass mailer is not sending anything, I keep getting periodic reports though

My mass email queue had 3 queued emails ( only half of the member numbers) and all three emails came back to admin email account and none to my test accounts.

Why? what have I done wrong?

7.0.4

I still need some help on the mass mailer system for 7.0.4 (will upgrade to 7.0.5 soon).

As in my previous post the mass mailer queue show less then one quarter of the actual members. I know it's sending emails because at least one of my test accounts recieved the email.

But the problem is that I expect the mail to go to all members (I check 'all members'), but the queue show perhaps 5, significantly less than the actual number of members.

The number in queued mail also doesn't relate to the number of Gold, Silver and Standard members in the Admin/ members view but it does seem to relate to Dolphin Subscription module 'subscriptions ID' which is different to the member levels.

Can anyone help?

hello there i was plying with this last night and found that if you are sending mass mails out you have to check all 3 boxes or the mails are only sent to peeps who have subscribed to site mass mail might be reason only some mails are being sent out

I tick subsrcibers (as far as I know I have only members), tick members (which tells me the correct number of members to send to, about 22), tick men & women, send to all ages (18-100), all countries and all members.

When I press submit only 5 mails are queued.

Further to my previous post, even though there appeared a relationship between the number of queued mails and the number of certain subscriber ID's, it is not the case that the mails only went to those particular subscriber ID's because one of my test accounts appears as one the subsciber ID's and that account did not recieve the email.

I don't know who actually recieved an email. How can I get this information?

The last time I tried mass emailer, back in December, it was the same problem, queued mail show less than a quarter of actual members.

Anymore ideas please.

the subscribers are if i am correct those who have signed up for your news letter, these do not have to be members they can be non logged in visitors.

this mass mail is a little confusing there seems to be a bug or its just a safety measure to stop mistakes where by you have to give mail a title then content then when you press preview the system stores the composed message into sql  but does not save the current mail title in the small MESSAGES drop down box which then has THE WORD NONE in it !!! you then have to reselect select the title of the mail you want to preview and send  out   to your members it has caught me out a number of time but I works for me now apart from the fact that the mails it is sending out contain the html code showing but i think this might be because at the side of the input box it says *body i can only assume that by putting html code in the box IE:<html><head> and <body> i have some how injected this in to sql which not places this in to code .... hope this helps and if any one can tell me the sql addy where i can remove my mistake please do ...

good luck

Thanks. I've done all that and understand the procedure and as far as I understand this is not a cron issue because some emails get sent. One of my two test accounts recieved the email but not the other account.

I would assume that the number that appears in the queued mail dialogue box should relate directly to the number of intended recipients depending on what type of member settings have been chosen ie age, member levels, subscribers etc.

If all those settings are set for the maximum number, or every member, then the number that appears in the queued mail box should be the number of members on the site.

But unfortunately in my case the number in the queued mail is only a quarter, or less, of my members.

If nobody else can offer any help perhaps I will try a support ticket

First of all a BIG THANKYOU to ESASE who managed to sort out my problem.

Esase identified that a number of my members had not given themselves an age. I had disabled age as a mandatory condition upon signup because I felt it had no relevance to my site (I'll need to re-think that now).

However to use the mass emailer minimum and maximum ages must be set and therefore because some members did not have an age the number of emails in the queue was correspondingly reduced.

It raises the question though: Can a default age be assigned, just like default country US and default sex male when a member signs up? Or

Alternately, can the age parameters in mass mailer be disabled or altered?
