App icons in sys_menu_mobile

How do I change the icon that appear in my app when the change is ignored in the database. For example: if the action field is set to 100 then this {site_url}images/mb0011info3.png will work and the icon is changed. if the action is set to 2 it will not change. This is not an issue at all in the IPhone app. it works in all cases.

100 is what it should be, so dont worry about what happens when using 2, as you wouldn;t use the 2 anyways for what you wanted. 2 is rlated to location's and is something that dolphin has precoded somewhere that we are unable to change. So, if it is working with 100, then you should be good.

Thanks for the response. However, I am changing the icon for the photo album and upload function. In the table the value for action is 7. If i change that to 100 the icon does change but the function stops working. That is true for all actions that do not have a value of 100. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First off, you do not change the action, or action_data to change the icon. If you look in the sys_menu_mobile table, you will notice a field called icon, along with the current icons. You can add the new icon, by placing it in the module folder, and then putting the location of it in the icon field - not the action field. The action field is what happens when you click the icon. So basically you were changing the click action, and not the icon itself.

ProfessorSr, I agree with you completely. I am seeing different results on Android vs Apple. As it stands now the value in the icon field of the sys_menu_mobile table is {site_url}modules/boonex/photos/camera.png . This works for Iphone but the Android app displays the default Icon. The icon size is 48 x 48 . This size is with in the guidelines of Android. I can not see why only the default icon of a globe displays. It is a puzzle  that is getting harder to solve. I was changing the action field because I see the blog icon has changed to the one i want. My action is 7. All works well except the icon display.

hmm - try using the full url instead of the {siteurl} and see if that works.

Actually, only custom actions (100,101) can have custom icons; other actions are using build-in icons.

This is unexpected behaviour when it works differently.

We will check this behaviour during next mobile apps update and will make both apps works the same way (it maybe both apps will support custom icons or only build-in):

It would be nice to be able to use custom icons in each one. I personally have a few modules that I created with custom icons that are certain colors, so being able to change the default icons for the original modules would be good for those wanting to maintain consistency.
