Advice please - basic questions on backing up

Hi everyone

Could someone give me some advice on backing up files please - in nice, easy to understand words Smile

I've found where I can back up the database to my own computer, which is fine.  What about the tables section though?  There are heaps of sections in there that would take me ages to back up each one individually.

I'm with HFW, and have talked to them about what I have to do for a back up in case the worst happens - They say doing a full back up will still not let you restore everything via cpanel, but - if I make a back up through cpanel, they can restore it for me.

I want to make sure I have the right back ups done, so what should I be doing? Where from? How often? And what information?

Thank you in advance.

cheers

Jackie

Regarding tables, you should be able to backup the entire database (possibly by selecting all tables). I'm not too familiar with cPanel's backup utility, though.

Using the back up in Dolphin, the tables are just a drop down list, and you have to pick them out individually. I can't seem to select them all at once :(

As I said, would take ages, and I'm not that clued up to know which ones I'm actually using and which ones I'm not.

I recommend using any tools provided by cPanel/phpMyAdmin over Dolphin's database utilities.
