Just installed 7.1.4 and I am in the process of setting it up. I tested the join form and kept getting a red exclamation at the "I have read the ToS". I hovered over the red exclamation and found some message about spam. So I went to the antispam tools and look through the list. I turned off the "Smart antispam check" and the join form processed.
????? Replies are welcomed here.

OK, I won't.
Why would the checkbox for "I have read the ToS" trigger the antispam thingy?

I bot the Join Monitor module. While not certified for 7.1.4, Dolphin Jay fixed it for me. This module really gives good insight as to what happens when people try to Join your site... Peer L. Plaut Executive Director, Single Booklovers Connecting Bookworms Since 1970 |
If Boonex is going to add in antispam protection that has to be turned off in order to use a site, they may just as well not include it. Seriously, it was failing at the checkbox for ToS? That is not an entry field, it is a bleeding checkbox so how could it trip the antispam thing? Geeks, making the world a better place |
Geek Girl-
What good is anti spam if you can't see what is going on...
I love Deano's product for this...

These are my stats. So you not getting hit very hard. Either that, or you still have the boonex spam stuff enabled.

Deano- we used to get pummeled...
I have attached my Boonex Spam settings for your review. As you will see the only thing I left enabled is NoFollow Attribute as I had no real idea what this did...
I have uploaded my screen shots for your review... I GREATLY appreciate your feedback...

Yes, but I am talking about the built in antispam; if this is the expected, then I should report it as a bug because having to turn off the antispam because it is flagging the ToS checkbox as a spam input, that is rather useless. Geeks, making the world a better place |

However, no answer to my question about the built-in Boonex antispam flagging the ToS checkbox. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Then report it as a bug.
I don't use the built in garbage.

Hey Deano-
I have a quick question.
I have two users now who somehow made it through the gauntlet. We don't want to approve these members, how do I send them to your spammer list from the management console. see Smamers.png
The other user managed to get through.... see spammerii.png
Thanks Peer
Thanks!

From my antispam. You go into mine and find them in the non-spammer tab and then mark them as spam.
It's the same as it's always been.

First you have to activate the user...
Then they show up in the non spam list... :)
Is there a way to change the Delete Spammer button on the Admin Members button with your solution?
This way I could just delete from the main screen... Its not a gotta have, but a wanna have..
Have a GREAT weekend and thanks for all you do.

I think we have a user who was signed up by somebody else... you know like her ex husband or something?
I already deleted the user, but is there a way to block a specific email address?
Thanks!

Are you referring to my anti-spam mod? If so, post your questions in the support forum for my mod. Not here. Questions directed at me or one of my mods i may miss if not done in my forums.
If mine, well, normally you go to the non spam account list and flag them as spam, but considering your running with requiring approval, they don't show up in that list. Not how i intended the mod to be run. So until i develop a better way to handle this, you can just insert the email address into the email block database with a query from phpMyAdmin like so.
INSERT INTO `deano_dolphin_anti_spam_email` (`email`, `timestamp`) VALUES ('test@test.com', UNIX_TIMESTAMP());
Replace test@test.com with the email you want to block.
Then after the email address has been inserted, just delete the user.

HAve noticed on a couple of sites that are in build and not even live, I still get spam accounts signing up, even though Ive done everything in admin that would prevent anyone joining the site!
invitation only, email activation, join form has additional bot checks plus the normal...
I get daily email reports saying so and so has confirmed there email..!

Daihlo-
Which version of Dolphin are you using? Try to upgrade to 7.1.4. I don't know the exact details but it is my understanding with earlier versions of Dolphin, somebody could write a bot that could populate your membership database without actually going through the form. I'm sure there are others who know far more about this than me.. :) But after upgrading to 7.1.4 and using Deanos tools and the Join Monitor (which Dolphin Jay will have to modify for you to get to work) we have no Spam accounts... a weirdo once in a while ;) but nobody who is not a real person. :)
